We are back from our back 2 back on the Dream. We left Port Canaveral on Friday, July 29th and returned Sunday, August 7th. Nine nights on the Dream and it was FANTASTIC! A four night cruise...followed up by a five night. We had no idea if we'd like the back 2 back......WE DID!!!

Here is our cast of characters
Girls012.jpg

Grandma (my mother), myself, DD's (ages 2 & 4), DN (my nephew -age 17), and DH. We all love Disney!!

My report is a play by play of our vacation. I will add lots of pictures along the way. It's only my second report on the DIS, but I have read tons of others. Hope you enjoy! The Dream is wonderful!!

What's that word that kid's keep using??...Oh yeah.... A W E S O M E !!

Lovely photo.

Really looking forward to reading your trip report. Cant wait to see plenty more photos.

Ugggg, I just typed a ton of info and it logged me off and I lost it all. I'll have to start over. This happened to me on my last trip report.

Ok, here goes again….

Tuesday I arrived home around 4:30pm. We had McDonalds for dinner. I started packing around 6:00pm. I packed, packed and packed some more. We had last minute laundry, a Walmart run and finally in bed around 1:30am.

Wednesday DH took me to work so I wouldn’t have to come home before leaving. My office is right by the interstate. Gma and DH packed the car and took the girls swimming to wear them out for the long car ride, etc. Worked out perfectly! They picked me up and we were off. We were on the road for about 10 minutes when DH got pulled over for speeding. Ok, a speeding ticket and now we’re on our way…driving much slower now.

Thursday we arrived in Titusville, FL. My brother and his family live there. His son (my DN) went with us on the cruise. We stayed at the Holiday Inn in Titusville. My brother took us to the port and we left our car with him for the cruise. Yea! No parking fees at the port!! We went to Dixie Crossroads for dinner. It’s soooo good!! It’s in Titusville. After dinner the rest of the family went to the hotel. I went back to my brothers house to help pack my nephews things. He then took me to the hotel around midnight.

Friday I could not sleep in to save my life. I was sooooo excited about the cruise. I woke up at 5:30am. After tossing and turning forever I finally got up at 8:00am. Showered, got the girls ready and we left at 9:30am. We stopped at McDonalds for breakfast. It was a loooong stop. After McD’s, picking up my nephew, loading his stuff, we finally made it to the port around 11:00am. Thru security, checked in and onboard around 12:15pm. I had done all the online check-in. All we had to fill out at the part was the health form saying no one had been sick, etc. I had registered for the children’s club, as well. However, we waited until onboard to get our id bracelets for the girls (thanks to DIS suggestions).

Once on board we went to Cabbana’s for lunch. Here is my first lunch onboard the Dream
Girls024.jpg

The peel and eat shrimp were yummy. They were on the buffet everyday and we had them everyday!

They also offered hand dipped ice cream everyday at Cabanas. My favorite ice-creams were the mint choc chip and the strawberry cheesecake ice cream. Here is a pic of the mint choc chip with white choc shavings and a yummy choc chip cookie

Here is a picture of DD and DN outside of Cabanas in Port Canaveral
Girls025.jpg

After lunch we decided to check out the Oceaneers Club and get id bracelets. Here are the girls checking out the club.
Girls030.jpg

The next photo is of DD playing with Mr. Potato Head. Huge pieces. Too cute!!
Girls035.jpg

DD (age 2 1/2) was allowed to register for the club. She is fully potty trained. However, once we registered for the club she was unable to use the nursery. We had to pick nursery or club for the week. We went with the club. Good choice. However, we would have liked to use both. Oh well, no biggie.

After the club we went to the room to drop off carry on stuff. We were in room 2515 & 2511. The virtual porthole was a nice touch. Very cool! We also loved having the wave phones.
Girls044.jpg

Our room host Bart was great!!! He brought my DD lots of chocolate!
Girls811.jpg

After we dropped off our carry on items we headed to Vibe to check out the teen club.
This next photo is an are in Vibe where kids can lounge and put in their IPods/Phones and listen to music thru the huge speaker. I think it had a video screen, as well. DH and DN thought this was pretty cool.
Girls047.jpg

By now Gma and the DD's are getting sleepy. They went to the room for a nap while DH, DN and myself went to the lifeboat drill. They scan your card at the drill...so as long as one person from the stateroom is there...no need for us to wake up sleeping children and Gma to go.

After the drill our suitcases had arrived. I unpacked and woke everyone up in time for Golden Mickey's. We've seen it before, but it's a very cute show. Love the new Tangled part they added. DD's loved Rapunzel!!

We then went back to the room to change for dinner. Snapped a few pics and were in Royal Palace by 8;15pm. Our rotation was RAEE. Our servers were fantastic. More on them later. The food was great! I will post a few food pics throughout the review.

The girls did the Dine and Play. For those unaware of what this is....It is for late dining. They take the children's order first and bring it out right away. At 9;15pm the Club/Lab counselors come to the restaurants and checkin children wanting to go to the club/lab. We finish the rest of our dinner after they are gone. It's nice. You get an hour with the children at dinner and an hour without. The kids love it!

We tried to go to Match Your Mate in Evolution (18 and older club) but we got paged our DD wanted picked up. So, back to the room for PJ's and Chocoloates.
Girls061.jpg

We had very noisy neighbors. They left their TV on all night and it was VERY loud. Finally at 2:00am we called guest services to see if they'd ask them to turn it down a little. They tried calling them and knocking...no answer. Guest Services apologized and said they'd call them the next day. We also heard several of their conversations throughout the cruise. Not muffled noise but the entire conversation. Not a big deal. I'm sure they didn't realize the walls were so thin. Plus, I'm sure we were noisey at times, as well.

An observation about the Oceaneers club....It is very nice and DD's loved it. However, it was so big that it was a little overwhelming at times. Also, comparing it to the Magic....On the Magic when a group activity was going on all the kids in the club participated in it. On the Dream there were so many other things going on during the group activity it became very easy for them to get distracted. However, the group acitivies were very fun. More on those later. DD LOVED Toy Story Boot Camp. It was really cute. There were lots of planned activities. I will go into them later. Here is a pic of the handwashing in the club. This was our DD's favorite part of coming/going to the club.
Girls587.jpg

Ok, that's it for day 1. I will post day 2 asap. Thanks for reading along....

Saturday, Day 2 (Nassau) Gma, the DD's and I stayed on the ship. So much to do and Nassau just doesn't do anything for us. DH and DN did get off the ship. We slept in because we'd been up late the night before. My family likes to stay up late and sleep in. So, after getting up, taking baths and getting ready for the day..we headed up to Cabanas for lunch. We usually arrived around 11:30pm. We'd get our favorite table for 6 right inside Cabanas, near the window and drink stations. After finding our table I would go back out to the the pizza, burgers, sandwich, fruit place (can't remember all their cames...Luigis, Tow Maters, etc. and get pizza and fruit. I love their pizza and fruit! Here is a pic of our fruit plate...It was yummy!!
Girls063.jpg

Gma and I took DD's to the club after lunch. There was a lot going on in the club today for a port day. They had some playtime in Andy's Room, Captain Hook came by for "So you want to be a Pirate", Lilo and Stitch came by for "Aloha Luau", DD played Toy Story Mania on the Wii, they dressed up and just had an all around good time. Gma and I stayed in the club just to watch the girls. It was fun!
Girls080.jpg

Girls087.jpg

After our fun in the club I ran upstairs and got some snacks from deck 11. We then went to the Buena Vista Theater and watched Cars 2 in 3D.
Girls129.jpg

After the movie the girls were in need of a nap. I wanted to get ready for formal night.

Tonight was formal night and dinner in Animators. Love this picture of the kids looking out the porthole....I can never resist these pictures.
Girls138.jpg

We had lots of professional photos taken, as well. Put it this way...I spent $400 in photos on the ship between the 4 and 5 night. I'll explain how the photo package works later in the review for b2b.

Animators Dessert:
We love our Mickey Bars!
Girls153.jpg

Dessert was Brownie Cheesecake.
Girls154.jpg

After dinner I had promised the girls we'd go for a late night swim. They were dying to swim and do the Aqua Duck. Oldest DD is 44 inches. Minimum height is 42 inches. So, she was fine for the Aqua Duck. DD (age 2) was unable to ride. She's only 39 inches. So, she swam in the Mickey pool and was quite happy. It was freezing on that deck when you were wet (at least at 11:00pm)!!
Girls158.jpg

DN and DD coming out of the Aqua Duck. Sorry, not great photo quality. The wait for the Aqua Duck at 11:00pm was appx. 20 minutes.
Girls166.jpg

We had left my DD's shoes up by the Aqua Duck. DH went up to get them and slipped coming down the stairs. Yikes! 12 stairs!! He was very sore the next day. Be careful...when it says deck is slippery ... it really is. Sorry, no photos of the fall.

So, after the swim, fall, slide, etc. we decided we should head back and go to bed.

Next up...Sunday..at Castaway Cay.

Great report with very helpful information! We'll be on our first cruise later this month with our three boys (ages pre-school to pre-teen), and I appreciate the detailed photos. Glad to hear you were able to stay in the kids' club with your girls - our youngest is very social and would have no problems there without us, but I'd like to spend some time with him there. Looking forward to hearing more!!!

Enjoying your trip report so far. We are doing a B2B in November and we've got cabins 2513 and 2515! I'm anxious to hear how they handled debarking and embarking between the two cruises. What time did you get off and what time were you able to get back on? What was open when you did get back on?

Thanks!
Kim

Looks like you all had a great time! I was on the first leg of your journey, 7/29 - 8/2, and enjoyed it!

:cool1::cool1::cool1:

And we were on the second leg of your B2B - Aug 2 - 7.

Enjoying your report. Thanks for explaining about the Dine and Play. That must be new(er). It's been a while since our kids were in the Lab/Club - they are 16 an 20 now. I saw some of the Oceaneer counselors walking through the dining rooms, and wondered what that was all about. Now I know! Seems like a good idea. Little ones have trouble sitting through long dinners, and this seems like a great way to spend family time as well as letting the parents linger a bit over their dessert.

I saw the kids' wristbands. How do they work? Does the square plastic part have some sort of chip that gets scanned in and out? They look uncomfortable!

Your food pictures are making me hungry - and missing Cabanas!!

Great start to your TR! Can't wait to read the rest. The drive from our house to Orlando is roughly 6 hrs, it took my husband almost 5 hours to get there. He is a speed racer, but I think that he has calmed down a bit since he got a ticket as well two months ago. It just cracks me up.

i can't wait to read the rest of your report!!! we are doing a b2b in 2 weeks!!!!

Really enjoying your trip report.

Great to see that you boarded quite quickly. Do all children have to wear the wrist band and up to what age? Loved your photos, especially the food!!! Kids clubs look great. My 3 will be age 13, 12 and 11 so I am hoping after dinner show myself and my DH can enjoy a cocktail together!!

In think I may do as you did in Nassau, stay on board and enjoy the ship!!

Looking forward to hearing about your day in Castaway Cay.

Thanks everyone! I'll try and get a couple more days posted today. Work keeps getting in the way though. : (

I'll write more on disembark/embark (b2b day) later. It was so easy! We were back on board around 11:00am.

Wrist bands (i.e. Mickey Bands) are definitely for kids in the Club (and I assume the Lab, as well). They scan them everytime the enter or exit the club/lab. My DD only did something in the Lab once (she's only 4). However, we did tour it and it looks very cool! Just most of the things are geared for ages 7-11.

Great TR so far! :thumbsup2 We are also doing B2B in January 2012 (5 days and 4 days) so I look foward to the rest of your TR!

thanks! :yay:

Sunday, Castaway Cay - I hope you all aren't too disappointed....but we didn't even get off the ship! Yes, seriously!! In Nassau when we stayed on the ship it was still somewhat busy. Today.....hardly anyone stayed on the ship...at least in the morning/early afternoon. We knew we were stopping at Castaway two more times on the next portion.

After sleeping in a little we got up and got ready for our meet/greet with Tinkerbell. Hardly anyone in line!

My professional pictures are so much better, but I don't have them scanned in...so you are all stuck with my snapshot pictures for now. Sorry.
Girls190.jpg

Gma and Me with our little Tinks!
Girls195.jpg

Girls193.jpg

And, like I said the porthole pics I just can't resist.
Girls173Copy.jpg

After pictures we decided to change clothes and head up to Cabanas for lunch. Great photo ops up there with Castaway Cay in the background. Gorgeous day!!
Girls198.jpg

Girls200.jpg

Here's my lunch...DD swiped a piece of my pepperoni before I got the picture.
Girls207.jpg

After lunch we decided to take advantage of the empty pool deck. We did Nemo Reef, Swimming, and the slides. Here is a pic of the little slide in Nemo's Reef. It gets slippery and goes fast. So, if your kids are timid around water you might want to catch them the first few times. My DD's loved it, but they did slide all the way off the slide to the middle area.
Girls211.jpg

DD and DN on the Aqua Duck
Girls232.jpg

You can see how empty the Mickey Slide is...no line!
Girls230.jpg

After swimming we went to see the new Winnie The Pooh movie. It was cute. Although, I like Pixar movies much better. DD fell asleep before it was over. I carried her back to the room. The girls took naps.

Next up was Pirate Night. We got ready, took pictures, shopped, and the girls played in the club for awhile. Again my pictures aren't nearly as good as the professional ones we bought but here ya go. We didn't get nearly as Pirate-ie as some people. Some of the passengers had really cool costumes. I did manage to get the girls cute skirts/black tops/and the bandana Disney provided gave us a nice pirate look.
Girls244.jpg

Girls245.jpg

Dinner tonight was in Enchanted Garden. It was yummy.
Girls250.jpg

Girls251.jpg

We decided to skip fireworks and pirate show. When we went to pick up the girls they were having too much fun in the club. Pluto was there and they were coloring pillow cases with markers. Way more fun for them than fireworks...I guess.
Girls256.jpg

Girls257.jpg

After we talked them into leaving it was time for bed. We were getting up early for princesses the next day...early for us, anyway.

Observation of the day.....my DN can eat a lot of pizza. I think he had 13 slices today! Where does he put it all?!?

Next up..Sea Day
