Now that the HS drawing class is no more, I understand that this is available at AOA. Does anyone have anymore info on this, like a schedule?

Here you go.

Character Artist

Meet our resident artist during Teach to Draw classes held in the children’s playroom next to the Front Desk at 11:00am, 2:00pm and 5:00pm. Become an artist yourself by learning how to draw your favorite Disney Characters. Times and availability are subject to change.

They don't do that at HS anymore??? :( Can you go to AA for it if you don't stay there? Do they take reservations? My daughter's passion is drawing and always loved it!

Thank you so much, this was a favorite of ours at HS, often two or three times a visit.

I'm staying at POP next May, and would love to take the drawing class over at AoA. However I'm under the impression that it's strictly for kids, is that true? I'll be a 33 yo female travelling alone, should I forget about doing this? My drawing skills are roughly around a 2 yo's level though so :D :D

You should definitely do it! It's for everyone! I often see more adults than kids drawing.

Honest report - my daughters Loved the Studios animation class and we have stayed at AOA few times after they canceled it as we needed the AOA suite to fit our family. Hate to say but it was a big disappointment - my daughters and niece went a few times (4 or 5) and in all those time over a few days the "CM" never showed up so it was them drawing with an animated CM on a TV screen.

It was fine as we were already staying there and took away only from pool time but if we had made the trip to AOA based on the information provided indicating it was a "drawing class" we would have been disappointed.

Thanks for your feedback Disneylover99 and tjmw2727!

I will definitely go check it out then, like I say, I'm at POP and I'm planning to use AoA's food court anyway, so I might as well time a late lunch one day so that I can go do the drawing class.

That is such a shame! Sounds like you got shafted. My daughter went several times in August and an awesome CM (Steve) was there. He shared really interesting anecdotes about the animation process.

Boooooo!!!! My daughter became an animator because of her interaction with a real animator at MGM. Wish WDW still inspired like they used to.

This is a great idea. I went alone because DH is not about to draw. I enjoyed. You are reminding me that I need to finish coloring it.

We did this while staying at AOA last year & had a great experience. My oldest daughter (then 5) would draw 24/7 if we let her and so it was mostly for her benefit but all 4 of us made our best attempt at drawing Mickey and had a great time. The character artist was awesome - we went up front to thank him at the end of the session & mentioned how much our daughter learned to draw. He presented her with the Mickey he had just drawn so she got to leave with a cool souvenir ... which reminds me that I intended to frame his drawing & her drawing side by side ... I really need to get on that :rolleyes1 Anyhow, I would definitely recommend if you have the time to do it!

I’m glad I found this post. We are staying at Pop in February/March and I really want to do this. I suck at drawing but it would be fun to have someone there to show us how to draw a character! My 9 yo niece loves art and she will be with us so we need to do this. We will already be eating at AoA at least once.
