I just had to get this off my chest. We have a young girl that handles the mail for our floor. She's 20 years old and a part-time student. Apparently, she let the mail slip WAAAY behind and now the partners on my floor are more a little POed. She's not in today because she's been sick lately and she's having some tests done. OK....so, maybe she should be spoken to tomorrow. But, there have been 4 closed door meetings between the partners...the partners and one of the business managers....the partners, the business manager and the head secretary....then the partners again. Now, all 4 of them are in the small conference room tearing open all of the mail and making a massive deal out of it.

So....I put this out to you guys....do you hate the drama at work? So she fell behind. It happens to all of us. But, these people LOVE to meet about silly things and blow them out of proportion. They have a big trial tomorrow....and they're in there tearing up the mail! Sheesh!! I'll hear about this for the rest of the day now....and then tomorrow when she comes in there is going to be a big ordeal.

So...today's new topic...drama at work.....interesting or more trouble than it's worth??

Way too much drama. Granted I only work in retail, but its sad to see that some people never grow up. I swear, there is more gossip in the store than in the halls of my high school!

ALWAYS more trouble than it's worth in entertainment value to me! I like my work environment to be stable and professional. Plus, if you stir things up at work a lot it tends to come back and bite you in the butt. One of these days it's going to be your mistake someone blows out of proportion.

You mean there are places that donlt have the drama/politics at work?

When I taught, there seemed to always be someting going on...maybe not as bad as when I worked at Sylvan, though.

Obviously these big "wieners" have nothing better to do. Okay, so she fell behind....get some other people crossed trained so that the mail girl can be covered (at least half the day) when she is out. Or call a temp person in for a day. To think the paychecks these people get to be tearing up mail!! Should be a soap opera entitled "Mail Room Saga....."

I absolutely hate it...

Wal-Mart (the one I work at, at any rate) has to be one of the most cut-throat, every b---ard a king, every man for himself and God against all places to work.

Everybody's angry at each other and looking to get the good stuff for themselves and themselves only...

I'm definitely guilty of this, but it's true nevertheless.

Sincerely,

John "anotherboardnposter" Kilduff

I actually wouldn't mind if this girl had been messing up all along, which they should just fire her if she was instead of "meeting." But, she's great. She puts up with way more than she should for what they pay her. I closed my door to it about 20 minutes ago. Enough already with the mail. Like any of us would have read it by now anyway! What amazes me is how people turn on each other. I hope I never mess up too bad because it's apparent that very few people here would stand behind me. Although....in my position (first year associate attorney), that's probably expected.

My friend is a judicial clerk and she said the same thing happens there. Is there no hope??

There is VERY little drama where I work. So every incident is relished by all 3 of us. Mostly when the accounts payable/bookkeeper blows her stack. HIGH entertainment!

We have a low rate of drama here -- just one person who is extremely, um, unlikeable and not a pleasure to work with. I'll admit, we've said stuff about her when she's not there... But we're very relaxed in the newsroom and often "pick on" different people for different reasons. (My editor, for example, is from Australia, so there's a whole lot of jokes about his accents and the phrases he uses!) But we're always good not to tease anyone who can't take it!

I work in a law firm with 11 other people and we have absolutely no drama here. We work in a big house, so I think we feel more like a family...and not a dysfunctional one. Actually, I don't think drama would be tolerated here.

Sure, we have our occasional differences, but doesn't every family?

I do not envy those of you who have to put up with that C-rap on a daily basis.

Have always had drama at my various work locations. The good and bad is that i do not participate in the gossip and such...i do my work and stay quiet. Most of the time, people think that quiet equals either dumb or mean. So, i think they talk about me too, only i do not care.
