So, I hear that the draining has begun. Has anyone seen this happening? I know there is a website with photos of it being drained. I was wondering if anyone happened to have the address.

Thanks,
Ali

I believe the "lagoon draining" (sounds like a sinus problem of some sort! :p ) is happening at Disneyland, not Disney World. That's what I'd read, at least.

:earsboy:

I was at Magic Kingdom at Disney World today, and the whole area around the lagoon is walled off. Even the old Fantasyland Character Festival is completely walled off, too. So from Fantasyland, you can't see anything happening.

Just hope they finally make the area into something! :)

Yep, its happening at the World but you cant really see anything... my mom walked past it last week.

I hope they make something nice there, too.

Cool pictures PatriciaH. Thanks for the link.

Does anyone know what they are planning to do in this area?

There are many rumors about this area. At this point no one really knows, but some of the ones that have been circulating:

1. Nothing. Absolutely nothing.
2. Costuming area for CMs.
3. Harry Potter land.
4. Extension of Toontown.
5. Extension of Fantasyland.

Who knows. There's even a rumor that there'll be a major announcement on May 5. We'll see.

Why??? :worried:

From what I understand about Disneyland is that they cannot drain it because then it was mess up the support system for the Matterhorn.

Hmmmm...for some reason I can't see the pictures. Do I have to subscribe to WDW Magic first?

Ali

Try again - I don't subscribe, but I could see it. Maybe their site was down at the time.

I hope they put SOMETHING there, it is a nice space.

Maybe...just maybe...they might consider FIXING THE ATTRACTION by updating it!

There is a 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea attraction at DisneySea:

...so they have a blueprint to work from. FYI, the DisneySea version is a FastPass attraction.

Here's an opportunity for the Imagineers to right a wrong in need of attention. Let's hope they do the right thing.

You know, as cheesy as that ride was, I still liked it. I do wonder what they'll put there instead.

As others have stated, the whole area is walled off. We were there on Monday June 28th for E-Ride night...you couldn't see anything, but boy did it smell terrible! It smelled like a backed up sewer or something of that nature! Pretty bad! DH was saying that they are going to make the entire area a meet and greet area for characters. He also said that Disney purchased the rights to include Potter themes into the parks. At the TOT gift shop they were selling the books...it thought that it was pretty odd that they were selling them there, but then he told me that Disney has the rights to Potter Attractions, or something to that effect.

Pretty sill if you ask me to bring Disney and Harry Potter together!

Why is it silly? Why not capitalize on an extremely popular literary character? I personally don't think it is all that bad of an idea. I'm sure if they would put a Harry Potter attraction there, it would be very popular.
I saw the books at the TOT 2 weeks ago. I thought it was a strange place to sell them. But I think it is just a hint of what is to come. Why else would they sell HP books if they weren't going to put in some sort of attraction? Hmmm... Only time will tell. :D :D :D

Don't get me wrong...I LOVE HP...I've read all the books, seen all the movies in the theaters and own the first 2 on DVD! I would definately go the attractions if they were built. The silly part is that all of the other attractions at the parks are Disney based. Does anyone know if any of the other attractions premise come from entities out side of Disney? (I'm thinking the basis of let's say for an example, Pirates of the Carribean, were created by someone not affiliated with Disney, and Disney just purchased rights to make an attraction for it?!?)

It will be interesting to see what comes of it in the future!

If I'm not mistaken, the whole Winnie the Pooh business came from outside of Disney's creative enterprises. I believe there are even some lawsuits pending with the Pooh people.
