DragonBoat Festival/Race

Has anyone been to or taken part in a Dragon Boat Race?
My son took part in one yesterday. His wife had to work so we went to babysit my granddaughter for the day and then take her to the Festival to see him. It was such a fun experience. I had known of this Festival, but have never been to it. I quess they do them all over the country. It's all done for charity and the racers are all teams from different organizations and workplaces. If you ever hear of one near you, I highly suggest looking into it either as a participant or just going to watch.

Was this the one in Superior? I haven't lived in the area for years but I know they had their Festival this weekend.

This is the oldest team sport--over 4000 years old. I am a woman in my sixties and I love this sport. Believe me I was not ever a sportswoman so to find myself on a dragonboat at least twice a week, going to festivals and on a senior games team is a surprise to both my family and myself. Give it a go. Incidently, I am on the left coast and you are all welcome at our Festival in Nanaimo

Yes, this was the one in Superior. We had been in town before and had seen the boats, and my son was to participate another time, but the youth group he was working with had to cancel. This was the first time we had actually attended it. Was a really great way to spend the day. the weather was gorgeous, and of course, as you know then, the Duluth/Superior harbor is always beautiful!

To Selltile......good for you! I am so impressed. Do you travel with it and compete, or do you just compete at your local Festival? There were so many teams that seemed to travel all over doing it, along with all of the local teams from various workplaces and groups. I loved all of the team names and the t-shirts, etc. that they came up with.

I was lucky enough to be in Nanjing a few years ago during the Dragon Boat festival. So beautiful and amazing!
