This is a really great thread. I'm actually taking my son in next week for his checkup. He'll be 16 months old. I can't get him to stop drinking milk...that's all he wants, all day long. No water, no juice, no food. He'll snack here & there throughout the day, but that is about it.
I'll definitely bring up the topic to my pediatrician and see what she says.
What does your DS do if you don't give him milk and he has to fill up on other foods/drinks? It's always a challenge to change someone's diet (especially mine

For example, DS knows he only gets juice (very watered down) maybe 3x a week. He used to have juicewater several times a day until I put a stop to it. He asked for juice a lot the first week and I gave him water instead. By the second week he stopped asking and just got his water from the table.
Honestly, I'm afraid the battle will just be harder to fight the older your DS gets. He needs a variety of vitamins and minerals from a varied diet to help nourish his brain and body as it grows so quickly.
