Dr. Jones and the Spitting Camel - Link to Alaska Cruise TR 9/18

hey Cynthia,

By now, you're on your way over the ocean to happy occassions!! WOOT!!

Hope you're getting some rest along the way!

Thank you for reminding me I should never apologize for my feelings. That's something I'm working on. :thumbsup2

Yes, I'm definitely thinking about Mom this month. Right around this time, we would have been getting ready to go, I think, so it's definitely in the forefront for me.

Again, thanks for your compassion. I really appreciate it.

Hi TK,

I was going to say something too, as your post struck me. Glad you feel safe to share here; I can safely say, most of us are happy to bear your grief with you, even if it's just as small a thing as listening. No, you should never apologize for sharing your heart. I just did this morning to a group of 40 women, and they were genuinely thankful and edified that I had laid it all out there- the deep grief of leaving and change, and on-going transition. The way you go through this will certainly bless others!

I forgot that hop to Germany was coming up so quickly! Enjoy!

How cool, a cruise! :goodvibes

OH and I forgot.. I got spit on by the camel this past summer, too... Maybe he doesn't like DISers... :rotfl:

Oh Hon, yes, compassion is there but as a writer, if something actually touches another, no greater compliment.

Have a great trip, Cynthia!

I'll be back after work to catch up.

:goodvibes

your not a loser, just get busy, i was so far behind after the holidays i had to read and not comment to catch up in a timely manner, but now i can comment again.

darn cattle hurders, sounds like it could have been a good place to slip "twist that ankle" and get a free vacation.
:thumbsup2:laughing:

JK

Good lord that was a lot of presents. And that's all I have to say about that.

Have a great time, Cynthia!!!

Thanks !!!!!!!!!!!!

 I have to admit I kinda like having to exit the ride to get the behind the scenes peek. Once we had to exit the matterhorn at Disneyland and it was awesome! :cool2:

Have fun in Germany!!! :goodvibes

LOL, it's a twisted sort of fun but... I get it.

I must say that I do like the Laughing Place song also.....but anything repeated for that long would drive me absolutely crazy!! Could you imagine being stuck by the swarming bee part and listening to that? Ughhhhh:sad2:

who knew it was such a popular song? The bees, that would be a NIGHTMARE!

INobody said anything to you taking pictures "backstage?" When I exited EE I was snapping pictures with my regular camera instead of my iPhone and they made mention I think twice of not taking any :rolleyes1 Didn't get anything to special anyway...

Great fireworks spot....I will put that in my memory bank :goodvibes

Hope you have a wunderbar ;) trip to Germany!!! :yay::yay:

Tracy

nope, not a peep, though bear in mind they are awfully blurry and many altogether missed. It's a fascinating trip so far.

That is one song I could not handle listening to over and over again! But then again, any song on constant rotation is annoying. We were stuck on Pirates for about 20-30 minutes in 2008 and it DROVE US CRAZY.

Can't wait for your YC update!
BTW, I  the YC. My 3 night stay in November was way too short.

I would move in there if I could. Seriously.

Thanks! Not yet but about to :goodvibes

Across the Pond... tis true

You noticed :)

Maybe the Camel has issues....

One of my very favorite things about WL was that boat ride, you just can't beat it for access to the MK. If I ever get to the YC on this TR (and then the HRH) I'll actually share my thoughts on all 3 compare/contrast but that was a definite highlight of the WL.

That and that balcony!

I keep forgetting you are just at the BEGINNING of your trip! Yay, I'm so happy there's a lot left to come, I get a little verklempt when a trip report comes to a close! :sad2:

Do you know what those camels do?

They SPIT!

On you.

The unsuspecting clueless rider

Right in the EYE.

I got SOAKED.

And darn it, it was funny!

I forget this every single time! You're right, it is better at night. Although, I actually prefer almost all rides at night.

And going, and going and going! Engerizer Bunny like. It became unlaughable awfully fast. then again, Zippity Doo Dah would have been just as painful, had we been stuck there I'd think.

Okay, I like that song, but there is NO WAY I could take it for 30 minutes! Be fun going out the back way like that and seeing the backstage areas, though. I'm trying to think If I've ever done that?

No, it was a bit grimy actually and not cool at all. Sad to say. You could see a lot of single shoes and hats that had fallen off in the drop!

SHOES :scared1::scared1::scared1:

I've never been stuck on a ride long enough to make me annoyed; and I probablhy shoudn't have just said that. :lmao:

The only time I have stopped on a ride at Disney has been with you my dear. Just sayin :rolleyes1 :goodvibes

Oh, yes, yes, yes, my dear. That will be another side splitting episode of One MORE of 7's MORONIC MOMENTS- brought to you by Rolaids- when you've had just too many of those moments. :lmao:

Hello from Germany!!!!!!!!

Haven't done too much sightseeing yet but hope to tomorrow and Monday. It's been busy with picking up people, hanging out, chatting and then the baptism today which was just lovely. All in German of course so I didn't understand much but the church was just adorable and all of the kids were really good.

We should be able to get out and explore the local area tomorrow and then Nurnberg on Monday and then of course dinner with Magdalene!

I'll update with pictures when I get home but wanted to say Hi!

SHOOT THE BEAR!!!

:lmao::rotfl::rotfl2:

The laughing place song is now combining with the large amounts of cold medicine I had to take today to do very strange things to my brain...

It sucks that you were stuck for so long, but at least it sounds like it was mildly entertaining!

Have a wonderful trip!

Oh dear, the laughing place on cold medicine. :rotfl:

It was entertaining and certainly memorable!

Oh Liesa, I'm glad to hear it went well and I bet it helped you too to talk about it!

Not much rest last night but I have made the change and will sleep better tonight I'm sure now that I've figured out how to close the shutters so the sun doesn't wake me up at 6am.

I forgot that hop to Germany was coming up so quickly! Enjoy!
I am, it's fast and furious but am enjoying it.

How cool, a cruise! :goodvibes

I am very excited!

OH and I forgot.. I got spit on by the camel this past summer, too... Maybe he doesn't like DISers... :rotfl:

That must be it, he spits on DISers!

:rotfl:

I keep forgetting you are just at the BEGINNING of your trip! Yay, I'm so happy there's a lot left to come, I get a little verklempt when a trip report comes to a close! :sad2:

Amazing isn't it? We are only on day 4. There is a LOT of trip still to come. Of course my being so behind helps too.

I forget this every single time! You're right, it is better at night. Although, I actually prefer almost all rides at night.

It wasn't as cool as you'd think :rotfl:

Any song on a ride for 30 minutes would be painful. Though I have to agree with Tracy, the bees swarming would be the worst!

Can you imagine, stuck at the back of the park with only one shoe? It would not be fun to try to find a replacement.

Ooh Ooh! A Story!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now unless I am really forgetting a lot about this ride, you are in a log with your feet down IN the log. HOW THE HECK DO YOU LOSE A SHOE? :rotfl2:

A hat, sunglasses, camera even but a shoe??? :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

I am also befuddled at how one would lose a shoe on Splash Mountain? :confused3 I would not have enjoyed being stuck in there and probably would have been a bit freaked out climbing out of the log and doing an "emergency" exit. The only ride I've been evacuated from was the Haunted Mansion. That was kind of cool to walk through with the lights on.

So glad you got to see your fireworks and sounds like a fantastic view!!

Glad you're having fun in Germany. Can't wait to hear all about it! :goodvibes

My guess is, that in an effort to keep said shoes from being wet, people take them off and hold them in their lap and then at the plunge, one goes flying.

It was a wonderful view. LONG day today and glad it's over but it was good, all good. I am hoping that tomorrow will be a bit more relaxed and with some sights.

Oh yeah, the old try and keep the shoes dry method. Yup having ONE go plop in the water, will keep them dry all right. :rotfl2::rotfl2:

I just keep them on my feet but put my feet up a little bit in the log. Just out of flood zone.

Same on Kali- that is what that bar is for. :thumbsup2

I have never been to Germany. I am looking forward to your photos! Is it cold??!!

That is what the bar is for!

I have never been to Germany. I am looking forward to your photos! Is it cold??!!

I won't have a ton of photo's, with the family activities and the shortness of the trip, not much time left for sightseeing not to mention that today between it being Sunday andinter, most things were closed. But it's been still fun to poke around a little and hopefully a few sights tomorrow.

Not cold at all, low 40's/upper 30's, about the same as home (for us) actually really similar weather, grey and drizzly!.

That is what the bar is for!

It is amazing that it seems obvious but I had to alert a whole boat load of people to get their feet on the bar if they wanted to keep their shoes dry. :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

I finally just read your update - so far behind, as usual! The Nightastic fireworks sound AMAZING. I wonder if they will do something similar this summer. :scratchin

Sorry to hear about getting stuck on Splash for 30 stinkin' minutes! Ugh! Aside from that, sounds like a great evening and that everyone had a wonderful time!

How are plans for Germany shaping up?

sadly, that's not surprising but how nice of you to think to tell them!

Hello everyone just checking in instead of lurking !!:rotfl2:

Thank you both very much.

I hope they do something similar, they were truly amazing. It was a great evening!

Plans, what little I made, worked out quite well in Germany. I will post pics and do a mini TR but the bulk of the short trip was just visiting with family. Still, a great time and a beautiful goddaughter if I do say so myself!

Though I confess, having been long out of the world of babies and toddlers, I am happy to have my bed back and not be tied to nap schedules, stranger anxiety, melt downs and the "will they go to sleep or not" drama. There were a LOT of people in one house, suffice to say I'm a bit wiped out.

:rotfl:

I did consider packing my 2 nephews in my suitcase though.
