Dr. Jones and the Spitting Camel - Link to Alaska Cruise TR 9/18

Great start to the 1st day!

Can't wait to see your room! And what's this about an upgrade?!!;)

:cloud9: Love TTA aka The People Mover. I cannot tell you the amount of times I have made out in the People Mover.

I've seen this barber (do you call a woman a barber?) in so many trip reports!

You all must have been running on pure adrenaline! You're getting so much done on basically little to no sleep. :woohoo:

Caught up! I've thought of taking DS to the Barbershop. Perhaps I should, since MK is usually our first park. Only problem is, he doesn't want to travel with his hair all messy!

I love the TTA! It is absolutely awesome--a great place for a rest! I can't wait to ride it at night in December with the castle all lit up!

Subbed to your TR last night and read the intro. Today I've been reading the report :surfweb: and am glad to say I am finally caught up! :cool1:

I totally sympathize with you (and so many others on here) with the pills. I have a 17 year old that still has troubles. He's pretty good for the most part, but every now and then it's like he gets it in his head that he can't swallow it and nothing seems to work :confused3

My youngest (17) and my middle (19) have both gotten haircuts at MSB. But they both got their heads completely shaved :scared1: (Mom was not thrilled:sad2:)

We've never been to Wilderness Lodge. In all our years of going there it was just last year that we even made it over to Fort Wilderness for lunch at Trails End. I haven't been to any of the monorail resorts.

It sounds like you are all off to a good start!

What a lovely update. You got a lot accomplished. Woohoo for no wait on POTC.

Thanks! I was really really pleased with our morning.

I can't believe how much energy you guys had! I would have needed a caffenine drip to keep me moving after the red eye!

Breakfast sugar. And plenty of caffeine. It works wonders!

the haircuts are a great idea! For some reason I always think they only do babies and girls....

OMG I can TOTALLY see d.jay in there! Seriously though, Hunter and Ethan (at a minimum) would love it. Have you seen the pictures from our trip last year/ Evan MILKED the reactions he got from his pixie dust like nobodies business. It was a riot! Taylor and Jeff actually considered it. I need to work on Jeff for Peepfest I think.

Awwww your pictures at MSB (not the bathroom ;)) are adorable!!! I love seeing all of the pixied kids and what better place to get your first haircut when you are an infant?!! Hmmmmmm I should be looking for a new hairdresser....:laughing:

Ok, as big as a fan as I am of the MSB....I wouldn't let them cut my hair. Although an older adult female CM came in for a trim right after us!

Ughhhh the August steam....I can almost feel it....the heat takes your breath right away like the cold does here in the winter!:sad2: You found a perfect musty hideout from the deluge :thumbsup2
Hope your room is all set (and upgraded!!)

Tracy

Yes. The steam. The word oppressive came to mind more than once. Actually there was another word that came to mind but that only happened twice during the entire trip.

The musty hideout was perfect! We all just love it and was such a perfect, escape!

Sounds like you had a wonderful start to your trip!

We did!

What a great start! I'd love to start with a boat ride to MK!!

It was. You can't go wrong with that as your first "port" of entry!

Great start to the 1st day!

It was a great start Trish! Who knows about the upgrade, it was still a mystery at that point!

:cloud9: Love TTA aka The People Mover. I cannot tell you the amount of times I have made out in the People Mover.

:rotfl:

I knew I liked you. OMG you have NO idea what you are in for with the HS girls soccer. Add an hour to Gabby's pre-game ritual for primping.

I've seen this barber (do you call a woman a barber?) in so many trip reports!
good question! I guess you do :confused3
we had a guy last year

You all must have been running on pure adrenaline! You're getting so much done on basically little to no sleep. :woohoo:

We were feeling pretty darn good until about 1. I was pleasantly surprised with how much we did and how into it and flexible everyone was. It couldn't have been easier.

Caught up! I've thought of taking DS to the Barbershop. Perhaps I should, since MK is usually our first park. Only problem is, he doesn't want to travel with his hair all messy!

You could always go towards the end or middle of your day there, when he's nice and sweaty :rotfl:

I love the TTA! It is absolutely awesome--a great place for a rest! I can't wait to ride it at night in December with the castle all lit up!

Oh the castle must be so pretty from the TTA then!

Subbed to your TR last night and read the intro. Today I've been reading the report :surfweb: and am glad to say I am finally caught up! :cool1:

Hi and :welcome: Thrilled to have you here

I totally sympathize with you (and so many others on here) with the pills. I have a 17 year old that still has troubles. He's pretty good for the most part, but every now and then it's like he gets it in his head that he can't swallow it and nothing seems to work :confused3

I can absolutely see Eric being that way for his entire life. He's a black and white kind of kid. There is no grey. Either it works, or it doesn't.

My youngest (17) and my middle (19) have both gotten haircuts at MSB. But they both got their heads completely shaved :scared1: (Mom was not thrilled:sad2:)

Yeah, at that age, the barber isn't going to check with mom to make sure it's ok, are they? Evan got his a lot shorter last year than this but still within decent limits. Did they ask for it to be shaved?

good thing is it does grow fast!

Well unless you are staying or dining there, neither WL or FW for that matter, are all that easy to get to. Yes, there is the boat but without a reason like an ADR I can't see most people making it there. How was the lunch at TE? We stayed at FW in 2009 but never ate at TE, just HDDR.

WL is beautiful and one of these days I would love to try Artists Point.

The Main Street Barber Shop!

Yep, the TTA! I’m honestly not sure if we’d ever been on it before. We enjoyed our tour to Tomorrow and checked out a few of the sights along the way.

A certain someone who can, shall we say, “move in” when it’s time for the bio break.

and psst.....just in case you didn't notice..there's a new Ticker and PTR link below....shameless plugging alert

NEVER would have guessed the MSB was going to be your first stop!

Another People Mover fan. Great attraction! Love the Tomorrowland Tour.

Thank you, seriously, for the tip about the conveniently located bathroom. I can see where this would come in handy for other family members to accomplish something during mandatory waiting period. I have one of those someones too who can move into a restroom.

I noticed the PTR promo! Congrats!

Perfect MK morning!
I think my nephews will have to try MSB next summer.

They would love it! Best tip is to go early when there isn't a line yet as it is a first come first serve place. The fact that we were able to just walk up shocked all of us.

Thanks on the PTR, we are so excited! That bathroom is the best, now that I know about it, we made good use of it more than once this trip! :rotfl:

Great first day Cynthia !!! How much are the Haircuts at MSB!!!!!???? I think Kyle might like that!!!

$14!!! it's a great deal and a ton of fun. And a really really good haircut.

Well, the first time it happened I wasn't on the trip. I had just started a new job and couldn't get off. My husband wnet ahead and took the boys because his oldest son (my step-son) and his family were going at the same time. My step-son is in the Navy and keeps his head shaved all the time. My youngest decided he wanted to do that, so my husband took him in and let the barber shave off all his thick black hair. I could have cried:sad1: So the next year my middle son wanted it done, but we never managed to get to the barbershop when it was open and not packed. I thought I was home free - then the next year came and he still wanted it done :sad2:. They didn't shave his completely off to razor stubble like they did my youngest, but left maybe 1/4 - 1/2 of hair. Not much....especially on his odd shaped head  And the sneak - I made a deal with him - he could shave his head if he got a Mickey painted on the back. He agreed, but once he was in the chair and his hair was gone, the barber asked if he wanted a Mickey ay nd he said "no thanks" Of course she wasn't going to hold him down and paint it on him anyway just because his mom said so. :confused3 He wanted it done again this year - and he promised me he would get the Mickey this time, but again we were never there at a good time. I've given up. I personally think my youngest looks better with his hair longer, but he keeps it really short all the time now - not completely shaved - but crew cut-ish. My middle has gone back to an average length. He does't like it to get too long - and I don't either. My oldest - you never know what he will do. I've quit looking. He never grows it long, but sometimes its spikey, other times he highlights it......I figure whatever he does, his attention span is short and he will change it soon.

UGH, that's the thing with a buzz cut like that. You need a nice shaped head to pull it off. It works on some and others....not so much.

Evan can actually pull it off and look really good, but the rest of them? Ick.

The Mickey on the back is the best, I loved Evan's last year and missed it this year.

It will level out as they get older, I remember my brother at that age going through some crazy hair stuff so we try to just bite our tongue with Taylor. Who just got a great cut this week, out of the blue and looks his age again. I need to take a pic before he grows it back out and turns all scruffy again.

Breakfast at WCC sounds sooo good. I've never eaten there.

And I'm with you on the MSB. The best haircut my DS ever had was there, it grew out so evenly and was done really well. Plus they're great at distracting the little kids too, they covered him in stickers, it was a riot.

Who can resists a little Tom Morrow?

Did his party from Saturn arrive? ;)

:rotfl:

I cannot even imagine! Right now there are a few girls who are way into boys and it's so funny to watch them attempt to stick out their non-existent chests and non-rumpy bootys. :rotfl2:

Count yourself lucky. Danielle is only 11 and has a chest.:scared1:

Oh, just you wait until you read my MK update in a couple of weeks!!! :rolleyes1

I will tell you that Charles had the same CM as Eric -- her name is Mary -- and he declared it was the best haircut he had ever had, too.

I have a Barber Shop Pole picture if you want it...unless you wanted your boys to pose with it in which case I can't help.

Riding POTC while escaping the deluge was perfect! I love the smell of the queue and the ride! It screams Disney to me!

It was good! I could have gone for some of those biscuits, gravy and scrambled eggs today! You'll have to go there next time as it couldn't be more convenient!

Why yes, I believe it did!

And they roll up the soccer shorts....

Ugh, that's no fun. Stressful at that age actually.

Yeah, I did want them with the pole lol! We got one last year and it's a favorite shot. Oh well. I think it's so cool Charles went there!

It does just scream Disney doesn't it!

 I am sorry. G will be 14 in Feb, and I am sure she would LOVE me talking about her chest on the DIS, but is still pretty flat. I got my girls the summer between 7th and 8th grade. Not sure what the hold-up for G is.

Yup, I have seen that too!

They just get rolled shorter, with a lot more makeup! Be glad G is flat, easier with soccer for sure, it can be a real pain. Literally. :rotfl:

K is not exactly well endowed but I don't really expect that to change much between soccer and heredity. Of course she's on the young side for 9th grade, she just turned 14 last month. I didn't develop until later too....not that it's relevant for K.
