Hi Everyone,

Does Disney have a dr. that will come to your room to check you out if you get sick? I remember someone posting that they had a dr. visit the hotel room when their dd was sick. Is this true, or would you have to go to the E.R.?

We unfortunately had to experience this on our last trip this past Jan. My Mom got sick with what ended up being a horrible virus, but we thought it may be strep while we were there. We called about a Dr. service and the clinic they use told us it would be $300 I believe to have the Dr. come to the resort:scared1:
If you went to the clinic it was going to be something like $180 if I remember correctly. They also wanted you to pay up front for that. We opted to not use either and make a call back home to Moms doctor. They called her in some medicine and we had it delivered to the hotel. You have to pay full price for that too and file later. We ended up paying $50 plus for the med. and only getting a fraction back from the ins. later. What a nightmare. Hope you dont end up needing a doctor while you are there!!!

Thanks everyone! We will be traveling in the winter with 2 toddlers, and I am a worrier. Since we won't have a car, I was wondering what to do if anyone was sick.

Thanks again!

Hi,

I came down with Strep Throat on our last trip in April. I went to Centra Care right outside the "World" entrance near Gooding Grocery - not too far from DDD. I went early in the am and didn't have to wait long at all. They were great! They didn't accept my insurance though and had to pay upfront - around $250.00. I was in and out - no problems. There is a phamacy right next door where I got my prescription. They also provide a shuttle service to and from our hotel. I was pleasantly surprised what great care I was provided with. Hopefully you won't have to use them....

Have a great trip!

We unfortunately had to use Centra Care our last trip too. They were wonderful!!! It's nice to know there is someplace close to take my kids too if need be.

Yes, speaking from exp., trip ins. covers it w/ their doctor. There are forms that take care of it all.

Just a heads up incase you should ever need it, hope not but the info would have made the difference to us, our DS#2 ended up in the ER on our March trip and the ER we were reffered to was in Celebration which was closest. They took our insurance BC/BS of Iowa and required a $100 'deposit' at bedside in ER for services, super classy i know and we have yet to see where in all the billing the 4 different places they are billing us from they applied the $100 every time we'd call they say it didn't come here, after we said we'll fax you our debit card receipt they magically found it but not who actually got it.....

HOWEVER filthy  , disgustingly dirty :scared: , I work in health care at a hospital at home, had DS #1 in various hospitals due to a health condition and never seen anything like it, on top of everything else they don't serve peds! I was like WTH    So he was transported to the PICU in Orlando via ambulance, I would have taken him there myself had i known better. The PICU was imaculate and the hospital overall in Orlando was very clean. I'll bypass Celebration unless it's absolutely unavoidable if something like that ever happens again.:confused3

I went to Centra-Care 5/2 (Friday nite). We got there at about 9:00 and left at about midnite. Quicker than the ER at home (our ER is also a trauma center). It cost me $10 (my copay). My medications were about $15 and if I filled out the paperwork to get the monies back, I would get back about $5 so I opted not to bother. They were very, very nice.

I went because I had horrible, horrible pain 1/2 way between my spinal cord and my side, right under the bra. They told me I had a Kidney infection and I would start to feel better within 24 hours. Well the pain got worse and started spreading to the front of my body, so I returned there on Saturday afternoon. I was able to catch a shuttle from Coronado Springs (I was at the pin convention) and they took me there and returned me to CS when I was finished. That Doctor said it might take a few days for the pain to go away. :confused3

Well that pain never did go away. I ended up in the ER at home and they also told me I had a Kidney infection. That didn't make sense to me because I didn't think my kidney was that far up my back and the pain was radiating around my body.

It turns out they were both wrong. I have shingles. Very, very painful and very, very itchy.

I was very impressed with how nice everyone was at Centra Care and I ended up spending less time there than I did in the ER when I got home.

Plus I was impressed that they provided a free shuttle to/from Centra Care. Thankfully my script wasn't that expensive. However, unlike other posters, they accepted my insurance, which is Keystone Health, Point of Service. :cheer2:

Penny :hippie:

We went to Centracare on our last trip as well. My daughter ended up with a double ear infection. They accepted our insurance card (Blue Cross/ Blue Shield) and we just had to pay our regular co-pay. And we went to a Walgreens nearby and filled her prescription and paid our usual co-pay there as well. We went around 8:30 in the morning and had very little wait time. At the front desk at the Pop Century they told us they could come to us, but we would have to pay out of pocket and then try to get reimbursed through our insurance and it might take them awhile to get there. If you are without a car, Centracare has a van that wil come and get you from your hotel and bring you back, but again you have to wait for them to show up.

We had the Dr come to our room at BCV on our May 07 trip. We didn't want to take DS to CentraCare and sit and wait. It was just over $200 and our "out of country" travel insurance (we're from Canada) covered every penny. I would not hesitate to use them again.

Hi,

Before I went to Centra Care I went to guest relations at the Beach Club for some recommendations on where I should go. They called and had me talk to the Dr.'s that come to your room (sorry I forgot the name). It was an up front fee of $350.00 - not including prescriptions! I said "no thank you" and went on my way to Centra Care.....If I was so sick I couldn't leave my room - I would have definitely used them though....very convenient!

HeatherAnne :) :) :)
