We just returned from a week at OKW. We spent the first four days in a two bedroom that DH and I shared with my mother and nephew. The last two days were spent in a studio without mother or nephew. We had the dining plan for four days. We saw all holiday festivities. Here is a basic summary:
OKW:
The two bedroom unit was wonderful! It was perfect. My nephew used the living room, Mom was in the second bedroom. We could have had one or two more in the place and still been very comfortable. The view was gorgeous. Having a washer and dryer was good, but the bathtub in the master suite was divine after a long day of walking.
We were in a studio in unit 14. It was not in very good shape and we probably would have complained if we had to stay in it longer. OF course, moving to it after the two-bedroom was a big let-down. We've never stayed in anything but a studio, and I have to say that I think we may move up to a 1-bedroom in the future so we have the space, washer/dryer, tub and metal kitchen implements.
Magical Express:
We sent Mom and nephew back to MCO. It was a smooth ride, and the bus picked them up only three hours before their flight. They did airport check-in at the hospitality house. This made everything very easy for them.
Dining Plan:
The nuances of this were a bit lost on my family. Fine dining doesn't impress them. Still, we ate well. There was too much food--as everyone says. Nephew took some chances and tried some new foods, and that was neat to see a kid do. We do think we broke even although we did not use all of the counter services and had MANY left over--see Magical Moment for more details on this.
Vactioning with family:
Mom thought she could walk. Within three hours, she was happily seated in a wheelchair. She is stubborn, so I was a bit surprised at how she succumbed so quickly. Disney does a great job of making folks in wheelchairs feel special in a good way.
The family had fun. We were glad we invited them. We were also glad when we were able to do the parks at our own pace after they left. They had fun, though and that is all that counts.
Christmas:
Osborne Spectacle of Lights - LOVED it!
Candlelight Processional Dinner Package - I don't think we got such great seats. It's a nice performance, but not something I would do again. We were able to use DP for the dining, too.
MVMCP - We just like MNSSHP better. However, we were a bit over-tired and that may have affected our opinion.
Magical Moment:
We ended up with nine unused counter services. We walked up to a family of five at Pecos Bills and bought their lunch for them. They were a bit increcdulous when we offered them a free lunch, but they were quite thrilled. It made us feel good, too.
