I was talking to a planner about a dessert party for our Escape wedding and was told that the only place would be either Canada Overlook or Vikings Landings. Is there any other place in Epcot where they allow Escape Brides to have a DP? And do we have any other options in other places?

The restriction is likely based upon most of the other venues needing at least 20 people, and with escapes, you'd have fewer than 20. Another place you could ask about is Parisian point, which is supposed to hold 10-20 and is quite nice. You could also ask about uk pubside, but I can't remember if that is 10-20 or under 10. We actually like the view from Canada overlook, and if Viking Landing is where I think it is, that's fairly good too.

Kazbah Point is another place that small groups can book. Unfortunately both Canada and Norway (Vikings Landing) have overhanging trees that block the high fireworks in photos. If you're not bringing a photographer, maybe you won't mind, though.

I have pictures of the fireworks views from all these places here: http://disneytravelbabble.com/disney-weddings/wdw-venue-photos/

And if you're willing to wait til 10 days out, Germany has a great view with no overhanging branches. They just can't book it til the last minute. You could book another place that you like OK and then keep checking with them to see if you can switch to Germany at the last minute.

What is the deal with booking Germany? How does that work and why do they make you wait until 10 days out?

Booking Germany is just like booking any other location. It's divided into four areas—Promenades B C and D each hold 10–25, so you'd be looking at booking one of those. The venue fee is $250 and the food and beverage minimum is $580. I believe that these areas are generally reserved by Epcot management for things like "guest recovery," (i.e., mollifying angry guests) accessible viewing, etc. but your planner can request permission from Epcot to use them at 10 days out.

Thanks for the info on Germany, I think we will book one of the two options, and hope that we can move to Germany at 10 days out. Should I mention this to my planner?

Yes, because s/he will be the one who has to check with Epcot and then change things if you're able to move. :thumbsup2
