This question is for those of you who have direct deposit (or your significant other does)

Those of you that have direct deposit... does your employer charge YOU a fee to do the direct deposit as opposed to cutting the actual check (although I'm pretty sure you still get a printed out a paystub)? I was just trying to get a feel as to what the norm was.

John's check has been directly deposited for years and there has never been any kind of fee. His money is available on Friday, however he gets the stub on Thursday. His company actually prefers that the employees have direct deposit.

I've had direct deposit for years now and love the convenience of it. My company doesn't charge me for it nor do my banks charge me a monthly fee as long as I have direct deposit and I have monies deposited in three different accounts from one paycheck. If your company is small (less than 50 people) it might be too expensive for them to offer it without having the employees pay for it.

We are strongly encouraged to go the direct deposit route. If you want a copy of your paystub, you have to go to the corporate intranet website and print it yourself. So the short answer is:

No fee. No paystub.

Yes, we both have direct deposit and there is no fee.

Both my husband and I have direct deposit. No fees and we both get copies of our stubs each payperiod.

:D

No extra fee from bank or employer. We get a paystub on payday. I check using online banking to make sure it was deposited into our account. Sometimes on holidays it's even put in a day or two early by our employers.

When I worked in banks, I had no choice. Direct deposit was all they would give us. There was no fee. DH has had DD at all his jobs since Ive known him and hes never had a fee either.
And yes, you do get a stub...or at least we did/do.

Two checks both automatic deposit. We do get pay stubs. No fees in fact the company strongly encourages it. You must work for a small company or something, never heard of a fee and I don't remember the last time I got a real paycheck.

Towncrier that is an interesting idea, probably a real money saver too.

I work for several companies and have direct deposit. No fees and the bank will usually waive any fees if you have direct deposit on their checking accts.

DH and I both get direct deposit and both get paystubs on pay day. However, the money is usually put into our accounts the night before (that is usually determined by the individual bank). Also no fees.

I would HIGHLY recommend direct deposit (as long as there's no fee)...I used to be a bank teller and I remember once one of the other tellers (who didn't have DD) check was mistakenly sent to the wrong branch and because she didn't have DD, she had to wait until it got sent back!

No, my employer does not charge for direct deposit. I keep hearing they may "encourage" people to sign up for direct deposit by charging them for a non-direct deposited paycheck. I still get a voided paystub each pay period.

DH also has direct deposit. No fee, but receives a paystub.

I could not live without direct deposit!:D

yes we both have dd, and no, no fee. we also both get pay stubs on pay day. dh's cpompany also has them online, but you still get a paper one as well so far.

our company also strongly pushes people toward direct deposit. it is more expensive for them to print out the check themselves.

DH doesn't have direct deposit at his latest job so off to the bank we go each week. :(

I have direct deposit and get a stub every 2 weeks, no extra fee.

My husband's checks are direct deposit and there is no fee. His company encourages direct deposit and they still send a stub too.

DH and I both work for the same company.......

We both have DD, we receive our stubs in the mail with a "mock check" that says "DEPOSIT ADVICE ONLY - NON NEGOTIABLE" across the bottom of the "check".

No fee; I also verify my deposits either through 'automated teller' by phone or online.

When DH was in the military, we used to get 'hard' checks in the mail (I had an allotment) and he'd get handed one at work. Then the big push came for direct deposit, and it was relatively painless!

Good luck!

LOL! Boy I hear you loud and clear about no fees! Yes, our company is relatively small 15-20 people.... I was looking into doing direct deposit for our employees and I am certain that they won't all take it so it will really be more work for me I suspect because some will take it and some won't....

Ok, I won't charge them a fee! LOL ;)
