Downtown is getting a new Sandwich shop

Downtown Disney is getting a new sandwich shop and will open in the fall according to today's on-line Orlando Sentinel.

Any new place to eat at in Downtown Disney would probably be welcomed. Did you happen to read what type of sandwiches? Like a Subway or a Schlotzsky's type sandwich?

I saw that on the TV news today also - going to be called "The Earl of Sandwich" and have an English Tudor atmosphere from the drawings. The owner is hilarious on the TV interview - veddy British - and is CEO of Planet Hollywood. He also has major plans for other projects elsewhere. Here's the link from the Orlando Sentinel:

Having actually tasted some of the Sandwiches in question and therefore able to compare to the Gourmet Pantry I definately prefer Gourmet Pantry!

I'm a Gourmet Pantry fan. The CMs are always so pleasant and nice. Glad we got our boxed lunches there last trip before returning to the airport.

Does anyone know when Gourmet Pantry is closing?

This was a good place to pick up a few treats for the room too. Oh well, McD's has good salads now so I'll be able to survive DS' Quarter Pounder fix.

That's the part I'm not exactly happy about either. It's a minor thing most people couldn't care less about, but I will certainly miss the place. It's a tradition (who knows that got started, bit it did).

We're going to miss the Gourmet pantry, we always stopped in and got something to take back to our room in the evening. Hope the sandwich shop is really good.

Bummer! I love the Gourmet Pantry, and will really miss it. It'll be interesting to see the new sandwich shop, though. Is there an exact opening date given?

UGH! This is soooo uncool! I LOVE the Gourmet Pantry!!! I was ticked when they took out Donald's Dairy Dip for Ghirardelli too!! Bigger, more commercial and more expensive in not always better! The new place sounds interesting but I'm not sure it's worth making another big change. Anyway, sorry to rant but I'm kind of frustrated with Disney these days and that has NEVER happened before

We always go to Gourmet Pantry at least once and pick up salads and a nice bottle of wine. It's the only place onsite I could be assured of finding something healthy to eat that could be taken back to the room. Particularly when we have a late check in and have been traveling all day, we're hungry but don't want junk food or something heavy right before bed.

This is a bummer. The Gourmet Pantry was unique in WDW. I wish everything in WDW was under their sole domain, with no outside buisnesses. Keeps it more total escapism from the real world.

One less reason to even go to the marketplace. We didn't eat there often but enjoyed shopping at Gourmet Pantry. What's next?

That's really too bad about the Gourmet Pantry - It was like a tradition for us also - defintely had to make a stop there everytime we were at WDW - will especially miss the white chocolate raspberry macadamia cookies - hope we can find them somewhere else
