Downtown Disney's Pin Traders

Is Dowtown Disney's Pin Traders a place where you can just trade pins or can you buy them as well? Is it worth a trip to Dowtown Disney to just go to this store or will I be able to find most of the pins they sell at this store at the parks?

You will find lots of items there that generally cannot be found in one location somewhere else. For example, they have a large area for Build-A-Pin. They also have a lot of framed sets. Basically they will have almost every pin available at WDW, except for ceertain ones that are very site specific.

However, outside Pin Traders tends to be a shark tank; be careful of your trades and don't leave anything unwatched.

Sounds like I'm planning to visit a store in a shaddy part of town instead of one in Downtown Disney. What exactly goes on outside of Pine Traders?

Don't let Cheshire Figment intimidate you about DTD pin trading. He has slammed it in at least 2 posts so obviously he had some bad experiences but I trade there on every trip and have met some really great people and made some great trades. Just be firm on what you want to trade, nobody will force you to trade anything. There are certainly some regulars down there that are tougher to deal with than some others but that is the case everywhere. It is definitely worth checking out.

I believe Build-a-Pin has been discontinued?

I thought Build-a-pin might be done because I saw lots of empty BAP bases on CM lanyards on my last visit.
