We are thinking about going to DTD the day we arrive in Dec. We are staying at the Poly, I read in the Unofficial Guide that it will take almost an hour to get there by Disney bus, but about 15-20 min by car. I really don't want to drive , but if it saves this much times may be worth it. Is this true??

The last time I went parking was a MAD HOUSE, and I swore I would never drive there again until construction calmed down. I believe they have finished a parking deck though? So it might not be quite as bad anymore.

It sounds like the Unofficial Guide is using a worst case scenario where someone has just missed the DTD bus and has to wait 20-30 minutes, allow time for everyone to board and travel time to DTD. If you drive, there is still a lot of construction at DTD. We found the roads congested and depending on when you'll be there, parking can be time consuming as well.

It can take close to an hour to go anywhere in a worst case scenario not just DTD,if you miss a bus by a minute and have to wait 20+ minutes for the next one to come along with the possibility your bus has other stops before reaching the destination along with possible wheelchairs having to load as well as the time of the actual trip maybe you get some traffic it will all add up, if you're out of luck any trip to any location could take close to 1 hour.The parking at DTD has gotten better with the new garage but you will still see some construction on Buena Vista dr for the new exit from I-4 and the bridges being built.

I would not drive. I have done it before and It is hit or miss just getting into the parking lot sometimes, especially with construction. Also, if the parking lots closest to DTD are full and you have to park across the street, you will have a long walk. Even if it only takes 15-20 min to drive, you still have to factor in the time trying to find a parking spot and the long walk if the lots are full. Of course, what day of the week and time of day does affect whether the parking lots are full.

If you are worried about it, you could always just get a taxi for the one day you will be at DTD.
