Hey guys! We are traveling to Disney as I type this. We are at Phoenix and everyone is asleep except for me...it's like that Disneyland commercial where the kids and parents cant sleep because they are too excited! Anyway...we will be getting there early tomorrow afternoon but not heading to the parks until Sunday. We can go to Dowtown Disney without tickets right? I knew at WDW you could, so I'm assuming... Also, I was going to make reservations for DD to do Libby Lu...is there something fun for a 7 year old boy and DH to do there at Downtown Disney?

thanks everyone!

You can go to DTD without tickets!! I liked going the night we got in just casue it got us a bit more exctied.... and i may be mistaken ( someone else can say yes or no) but i think the espn zone has like games adn things like that your DH & DS would probley like doing!!!! Have a great trip!!!

You do not need tix to DTD. Libby Lu is fun...there is the ESPN Zone for the boys. Video games etc. There's also a movie theater there, a lego store, build a bear...lots to look at and see! Have FUN!!!!:thumbsup2

Yea! Thanks For Responding So Quickly! I Didn't Expect To Hear Anything To Tomorrow! I Told Dh About Espn Zone And Thought That Might Be Good Too! Keep Em' Coming If You Know Of Other Stuff

There is a huge lego store that they could check out - its pretty neat as it has giant lego models of star wars and dinosaurs and play tables. And ESPN zone would definitely be fun! There's also build a bear. Also, Dept. 56 is always fun to look around (it has little christmas villages with moving people but also has some halloween ones which the little boys really like!).

Have a great time!!

Parking at DTD is free for the first 3 hours, something like $6/hour after that. You can get an additional 2 hour validation if you see a movie at AMC or eat at one of the restaurants.

They can go into the RFC and watch the fish in the gigantic tank. Build a Bear and the Lego store are always a hit with the younger ones, even my 12 year old. LOL!! Your husband might enjoy the store next to the theater. I can't remember the name but it has a ton of collectables. Have fun.

Your husband and son can walk around and check out the shops or what I would do is head over to the ESPN Zone where this is a huge arcade and tons of other sports stuff

Sorry for the second post, but there are also a lot of different little carts that have fun activities and also there are "street performers" that they can go and watch. They are very good too!!

A 7 yo boy would probably also like the Lego store, pretty cool to walk through, and they have areas for them to play. But yes, the ESPN Zone is gonna be the best option for the guys.

We'll be there Sunday too! Gettin on a plane early in the morn! Travel safe! :)

Another fun option for them is to walk over to the Disneyland Hotel. On the grounds they have remote control Jungle Cruise boats that you pay to use. There is a waterfall they can walk under and there is a regular arcade that isn't just sports oriented. Not only that the grounds are just fun.

Male point of view here. Spend the extra $10 - $20 & add a day to the Park Hopper.

If Mrs. Hound decided her "two guys", (me & Padewan Alec age 9).... wouldn't be going into the parks the first Afternoon & Evening.... & that they could "walk around & check out the shops"......then she'd be the Ex Mrs. Hound. ;)

:lmao:

Always appreciate the male point of view.

Sometimes we can forget. ;)

LOL Hound_109. My husband would be right there with you.

We are in the same situation, arrive mid day Saturday. We have never been to DLR, only WDW, so my DH and DS are sooo totally excited to ride IJ, been talking about it for months. We did buy the extra day so that we can do IJ, walk around, ride more if time, have dinner in the park and off to bed for an early start the next day. That way, they got "their" ride in first and will be better the next day when we do Magic Morning and ride the sissy dumbo ride first. Have fun!

:thumbsup2 We're driving down on Saturday and will definitely be heading to the parks in the afternoon. Catching a few rides & watching the fireworks is worth the additional day on the pass to us.

BTW - Indy is a fun ride but it can get a really long line, but you can grab a FP for it and ride Pirates while you wait. (Pirates is SOOOO much better at DL and the line moves really fast).

Virginia, have you read Hydroguy's tip threads yet? If not they are essential for the WDW vet. (print his abbreviation page, & then start reading in order).

Also good to have a map handy.

One item you'll discover is that on Sunday morning (during MM) you'll want to ride PP first THEN Dumbo (unlike MK).

Also, like another poster mentioned, if arriving mid day Sat.....nab your Indy FP when you first arrive & ride it later. Enjoy the sights & sounds of DL on your first day (& get your bearings).

You'll have a blast at Walt's Park. :thumbsup2
