Is it a must do - whats there? I wondering if we should just skip this? He doesn't like to shop so unless there is something to to actually do I feel he would be bored. Any feedback would be great!

I'm sure that your 4yo would enjoy DD. :) For one thing, it is just such a change of pace from the busy parks. There are interactive play fountains if you are going during a hot season, a large play area with Legos to build things, the toy store with tons of toys to look at ---my kids loved the Mr. Potato Head display where they tried out different parts and even used the computer to create their own potato head, also Goofy's Candy Co where you can design you own treat made to order. You can also check out the displays at Rainforest Cafe which are really cool. I love DD. I think you should definitely give it a try! :goodvibes

Wow...sounds like they have allot of stuff. We may go over there the day we arrive, after our Chef Mickey ressies, instead of heading over to MK, since we are doing MK on Sun and Wed. Would a bus take us from CM to DD?

Ditto..I agree with all this poster has to say. There are also shows going on (or have been when we have gone) in the ampatheater type areas. We saw a magician on our last trip and have seen childrens choirs singing. Our kids are very interested in everything going on there.

I believe our family loves DTD just as much as the parks at DW:banana: We actually have only stayed at POR and next time will stay at POFQ mainly for the awesome boat ride to DTD. If we are not in a park for EMH at night, we spend every evening at DTD. It is so much to see and do there!

Ok...I just checked out DD online and it looks like allot of fun, they start the holiday stuff Nov 12th - which sounds really neat. I think what we will do is head over there that evening after AK closes, eat at Planet Hollywood then head back to FW Campground after that so ds gets a good nights rest before our flight home the next day. The only thing about this plan - is I have to give up our Whispering Canyon Ressies (which we were looking forward to) for that night and instead eat at Planet Hollywood, but, when I call DDP she said that would work better since DD is near AK and WC is near MK, but, I do think the payoff of the holiday stuff at DD will be worth it.
Ok...that was long :lmao: but would love any feedback

DTD is not near the AK. It's actually on the other side of the property. There is a Rainforest Cafe at AK and one at DTD also. The Planet Hollywood is at DTD on the East side of WDW. AK is on the Southwest side

In the past few years I have become less and less of a DTD fan. Keep in mind the time of day and week you go really does make a difference. It is a big local hang out and gets very busy at nights and weekends.

Since we have been buying AP we normally skip DTD (after all why go when you can go to the parks for the same $?) When we have visited we have left early and felt disappointed.

There is stuff to do, I think IF I was going to go again I would be sure to go in the morning. I think the crowds would be better. When you have park days, the morning is valuable time. You can get a lot done in those hours.

Yea....the reservationist was wrong :sad2: - I got to researching it and couldn't believe how far it was, and she said "I would suggest going to eat at somewhere in DTD - because Whispering Canyon will be a long haul from DTD, but, the real kicker is - we have to go to a resort to even catch a bus to DTD, so we could have kept our initial WC ressies . Oh well...we may just catch a cab from AK and head over  . I really wanted to eat at Rainforest Cafe - but she said it doesn't participate in the Disney dining.
