How huge is the difference? Is there a Christmas store in Downtown Disney Disneyland?

Can you tell I am concerned about my shopping? LOL

Thanks in Advance!

Planning our first family DL trip. I have been 13 years ago, dh and kids have never been. We have done WDW twice and LOVED IT!

Cut the Marketplace in half and that would be about the size of DD at DL. There is no Christmas store in DD, but in DL in New Orleans Square, there is a small Christmas shop.

I don't know if I'll be in the minority here, but we like DL's DTD better than WDW's. DL's seems more spaced out and not near as crammed in as WDW. DL has more of a "relax, hang out, and enjoy yourself" feel to it than WDW's. WDW's seems like shopping, shopping, shopping. Where DL mixes in some live entertainment and a lot of restaurants (ESPN, Rainforest, Brennan's, HOB, Naples, and a couple others).

The Disney-themed shopping isn't covered in as many stores as WDW. There is just the WOD at DL for Disney-themed merchandise. But again, we like not having the pressure of going through 6 or 7 stores at WDW vs. one at DL. It doesn't feel as overwhelming to us.

I don't know that DL's is half the size of WDW. I would have guessed DL to have more space (compared to Marketplace), with it being strung out length-wise instead of the big block at WDW. DL's DTD is all accessible by walking.

I am another one who prefers DTD at Disneyland. It is much more laid back and has more of a "downtown" feel to it, with street performers, etc. I was there last summer and I thought there was a store with Christmas ornaments in it - sorry, but I can't remember the name. I know there was a "Department 56" store (is that right?) It is a store with all the different village scenes for Christmas. Most of my shopping was at the Quiksilver store (teen and preteen boys!).

Another vote for DL's DTD! My favorite part is that you can just go check it out or eat for a short time like while you wait for a fastpass to come up.
