Hi there,

I am planning to stay at POR and get tickets for MVMCP in November (first time for that event so I am super excited!!!!). The day of the party, I was planning on taking the boat to Downtown Disney early in the day. What time does this start running? Where is DTD does it drop off?

I would like to have lunch at T Rex then do some shopping. The plan would be to arrive at Magic Kingdom at 4 so we can maximize our tickets. What is the best way to get from DTD to MK?

Is this a good plan for a party day? My boys will be 7 and 9 and this is their first special event. I am hoping they don't get too tired out.

Thanks!

I think the boat starts running at 10:00am. There are no buses from DTD to the parks (and the traffic situation in DTD is currently a nightmare anyway), so you should ride the boat back to POR and take a bus to MK from there.

ETA : The boat from POR docks at the DTD Marketplace.

Last year we went from MK to DTD to MK. We did this via the Contemporary:
- MK --(monorail)--> Contemporary --(bus)--> DTD
- DTD --(bus)--> Contemporary --(walking)-->MK

It only takes about 10 minutes to walk from Contemporary to MK, which we thought was a lot faster than taking the monorail!

I agree about taking a bus to the contemporary and walking from there, instead of going all the way back to POR first. Walk to the MK from there. If you take the monorail it has to go all the way around via TTC, Poly, and GFR first.

That's a great idea. I never would have thought to bus to the Contemporary. Where are the bus depots at? Do you think they will be too crowded around 2:30 / 3 pm?

The buses are on the east side (Marketplace) .. not too far from T-Rex and the Lego store .. Those buses aren't usually crowded in my experience (since they don't go directly to parks).

Just note it's a long bus ride from Downtown Disney to any of the monorail resorts (also the bus route may combine two resorts (like Polynesian and Contemporary)). Like suggested above, it may be just easier to go back to your resort .. relax, freshen up and take a bus from there directly to the MK.

We did MVMCP last year the day we got off of a 5 day Dream cruise. (Woke up at about 6:00 am that day.) Our girls were 9 and 10 at the time, and they handled it great. We were in the park right up until the end, with no complaints (except for the ones coming from my tired feet!)

On that day we also did the "check in at the resort then go to DTD" thing. We picked up the bus to Polynesian/contemporary and walked up to MK gates.

Worked perfectly for us. :) So perfectly, we're doing it again this year. Made our POR reservations last night. :)

The bus depot is the far east side of Marketplace behind the area where Rainforest Cafe, Art Store, Christmas Store and Wolfgang Puck Express are located.

I think the boat starts running at 10:00am.
Yep,first boat down the mighty Sassagoula does start at 10:00.:)
