Hi,

Tried doing a search, but not working now. Does anyone know if they have interesting materials at the store in Downtown Disney?

I depends what you mean by interesting.

I saw stickers, mickey head punches, scissors, tape, themed paper packs, themed die cut packs. Albums. Thats all I can remember.

I've heard there are eyelets there but I didn't see them.

I didn't find any must haves. But the stuff wasn't my style of scrapping.

I do know of several people that came home with loads of stuff.

Its a personal opinion/style kind of thing.

Thanks for the quick reply. I should have been more specific, but I am interested in stickers, cutouts, anything that you can't find elsewhere that would make my photo album/scrapbook more interesting. Mickey head punch sounds kind of interesting....

I couldn't find a Mickey head punch! I looked everywhere for one, that store, as well as all the other stores that carry the stuff. You'll find that most stores like WoD, the Emporium, etc. carry the scrapbooking supplies. I'm fond of the $15 kits that come with 10 sheets of paper, several sheets of stickers, 4 cutouts, etc. The eyelets are $3 for a pack of 28. I bought two packs. They are super easy to overlook because they're not in a normal eyelet looking package. They had a castle punch, and scissors that edged everything with a "Mickey" half head...I don't like the scissors, they're very difficult to use.

OK - you got me curious. What are the eyelets used for? I am not a serious scrapbooker (yet) and I keep seeing that mentioned?

These were my first experience with eyelets also. They're little metal Mickey heads with a hole in the middle. You take the tools from this scrapbooking kit to do it. You take the hole puncher, and hammer a hole where you want the eyelet placed. Then you stick the eyelet through the hole. You flip the paper over and use a spreader to make the edges on the eyelet spread and you hammer it in place. I hope that makes sense! They're really cute!

A friend just came back from WDW and brought me a pair of the scissors. I was so excited because I haven't scrapped in months and am going to a crop Sat. planning to work on cruise book.

What do you mean by "hard to use" please? I can see that as you move them along you'll need to keep the pattern lined up but beyond that?

Deb

You may love them! I think mine are too tight or something...I just find them hard to cut with...I open them, put the paper in, and squeezing just takes so much effort...I think I just got a dud pair.

I think I got a dud pair, too. I only used mine once and while I like the look (I used it as a border), I found them difficult to use, to the point that they kinda ripped the paper.

As for the OP, I got quit a bit at Disney. I wish I had seen the eyelets, but have a friend picking them up for me this weekend. I can't wait until March!! ;)

While I did like the kits and have used two different ones, I would stay away from the books. I bought 3 (I have 3 children). They're a GREAT deal with cardstock included BUT I have had to cut down every single layout... about a inch from each page just so the pages don't bend when the book is opened. Also, the binding is basically folded so that you cannot expand the book. I wish I could be on their design team! ;)

I was just looking on mousememories.com and they have some of the same exact items I saw in the world.

I too bought an albumn while down there, and am upset the pages are a wierd size. I do not recommend the albumns. I haven't even started to work on it yet. I think I'm just dreading the cutting on every page.
As far as the eyelets go at the park are they balloon heads?? or mickey heads?
I bought balloon heads from Mouse memories but would love plain mickey heads.

They're actual Mickey head eyelets! They are supercute!! Check out Mouse Memories (the link is above) and they have them in their new stuff. You can see the picture at least...but a pack down there was $3, on their site it's $6.67 or something like that...so you may want to see if someone can bring them back for you. The pack has 28 eyelets, 7 of each color (red, white, black, and yellow) supposedly...I don't think mine were that evenly distributed, but I still love them.

I like the looks of the eyelets a lot better than the Mickey balloons!! I can't wait to get mine. I already have the balloons and rarely use them... I've even started cutting off that little tab at the bottom, but then it still looks funny... LOL!!

We are leaving in 5 weeks :sunny: and I can't wait to see the new eyelets. Have some of the kits and like a few things in them, but I won't be buying any more. Anyone wanting eyelets? I would be willing to buy a few extra and send them on.

I bought stuff in Disney last year and saw items on mousememories for much more which I thought was odd. Anyway, if you can get things in Disney, you are better off, but mousememories has so much stuff to order. They have plenty of diecuts, paper piecings and paper that you won't find in Disney.

I was at the Memories store in DTD in January and as a somewhat "serious" scrapbooker who is ALWAYS on the lookout for Disney supplies, I was VERY disappointed. The kits were cute by not my style. I did get the Mickey Eyelets (the ONE thing I thought was totally cool). I did see the castle punch but couldnt come up with more than one or two ways to use it so I passed (unlike my mickey head punch that I use for everything!) I also picked up a sheet of some alphabet stickers. (didnt see the scissors but heard they had them in the AKL gift shop--which was odd--I noticed some of the park gift shops had different items than in the DTD shop--so if you see it somewhere dont thing you will be able ot get it at DTD!). IMO my Local Scrapbook store has a much better selection of Disney supplies. One thing I DID get was a roll of disney tape (kind of like scotch tape but with a disney design) and a set of a bunch of different design refills--it looked cool and I thought I could use it as borders and it was only $3!
HINT--if your scissors are sticking or hard to work try 2 things---1) cut a piece of aluminum foil with them to sharpen them and 2) cut a piece of waxed paper to loosen them up (same with punches!!!)

Where did you find the Mickey head punch? I looked EVERYWHERE for one!! All I could find was the castle, and I looked in every store in every park, as well as all of the Marketplace...where am I missing that thing? I'll try the scissors ideas though, thanks!

WDWAurora,

Is there a Michael's in your area? That is where I purchased my Mickey head punch. I love it. I plan on purchasing the castle punch, if I can find it, in a few weeks when I return to WDW.

Really? I'll have to look around, I haven't really seen too many punches there, but I'll definitely check it out! Thanks for the heads up!

I got all of my Disney punches at Michaels. 2 sizes of Mickey head punch, a profile mickey head punch. mini tigger outline, Pooh face and pooh and piglet holding hands outline. gotta use those 40% coupons on SOMETHING every week right?? LOL!
