Downtown Disney Resort question

I'm looking at the Grosvenor resort for a little more space with 2 teenagers. I'm not too concerned about bussing because I'll have my car. I wondered if anyone has stayed here and what are your thoughts? TIA!

I would personally NOT stay at the Grosvenor. I used to stay there through Priceline occasionally, and I didn't find it worth the $35.00. It seems they are renovating it, so it sounds like it's getting better, but the reviews on Trip Advisor are still not so good. http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Re...Walt_Disney_World_Resort-Orlando_Florida.html

There are other hotels in the DD area. There is the Hilton, which I like and it is included with the EMH. The Hotel Royal Plaza had it's refurbishment (practically a new hotel now!) after the 2004 hurricanes here.

The DIS also often has great rates on the Swan and Dolphin. I'd look here as well for that, in case you can find a deal. You should have a wonderful vacation, and the Grosvenor is not somewhere I'd go for one. I was very happy with my Hilton stay last year, I've not stayed at the HRP since it's refurb. And really, just staying at the Pop may be a little cramped with the teenagers (I don't know), but it's a really nice resort too - as are all the other Disney resorts.

Will never stay there again. Paid $55-ish and that was too much.

Doubletree Suites has two room suites for plenty of space.

I believe the Royal Plaza has bigger rooms (many can sleep five) and it has just been renovated. Seen some good prices there. Also check Best Western and see what they offer.

I'll tell you what...no WAY can you put 5 people in Royal Plaza! We were just there in Jan and they assured us our room would be big enough for 4 adult guys...not even close. We had 2 beds in there...2 of my friends went and purchased a second room for the night on the spot...and this was for 1 night only!

We went and looked at the tower suite rooms (they have a bedroom with a king and a living room area with a pullout couch)...and honestly..there's no way you are going to be all that comfortable there.

Feel free to disagree with me...but personally I think pullout sofa beds are the worst! Never seen one that's comfortable yet! Might be ok for 2 little kids to sleep on or something, but you're on vacation, and everone should have a "Real" bed if you ask me!

We wished we had just stayed offsite for the 1 night we spent at Royal Plaza...since we ended up having to get a 2nd room to accomodate the 4 of us, we would have been better off renting a condo at Windsor Hills and paying the cleaning fees for the 1 night, it would have been bigger, nicer, and a lot less expensive.

For the same price as those hotel rooms you can typically get a 3 bed / 2 bath condo..or a 3 bed / 3 bath townhome with a splash pool, and everyone has their own bed, bathroom, kitchen, and more. I just don't get why people choose to pay more for less! We didn't even find it to be "ok" for 1 night....too small.

Whoa, the OP asked about Downtown Disney Resorts....for what sounded like was 2 adults and 2 teens. They are talking about a family, not 4 adult men. It is not the same. With 4 men, I would never reserve one room.

All I said was "I believe"......based on what I have read about the resort and just gave it to them as an option to check in to. Just passing on the information for them that there are other resorts at DTD that may be in the same price range but nicer.

Size of rooms, and pull outs are all relative to the people using the space. What is good for some is not good for others. That goes for location too. While we often stay off site (did for 8 nights in January), it is not my first choice. I would rather stay in the World anytime, even with less space. Staying offsite is not the same for me, and while that is important to me.........doesn't mean it is important for someone else.......and that is okay.

Hopper Fan -

I am glad I'm not the only one here who has been to the Grosvenor. I'd not stay there again if it was free. There are very few hotels I've stayed at that I'd say that about.
