I know this is probably a silly question, but how do you get to DTD? I mean, we're staying offsite so we can't just walk there, is there a parking area close by? At DLRP we were able to walk to the shop/dining places (can't remember for the life of me what it was called, but DTD equiv!) from our hotel but there was the massive parking place and train station there.
What's there? Is it similar to DLRP with a big Disney Store and places to eat?
Is it, in your opinion, a 'must do'?

Hi.

It has a huge parking lot, so there is easy access in a car. Im not sure how to get there using public transport, other than a taxi. There is 100% no train though.

The largest disney store in the world is there, along with about 25 other shops and restaurants. There is also Disneyquest, a cinema, Cirque de Soleil which all have a separate.

Its worth a visit, although i wouldnt be distraught if i didnt make it.

Excellent, thanks for your quick reply!
Have finally figured how to add a ticker too so hopefully will add to the excitement :goodvibes

er..not entirely sure that is correct.

DTD is near(ish) Typhoon Lagoon which in turn is near(ish) Hollywood studios however "right behind" is a bit of a stretch as is trying to walk from one to the other :)

In fact take a look here: http://www.wdwinfo.com/resortmaps/propertymap.htm

DTD is well worth a visit or two, probably the best time to go is early evening, have a look round and then a meal at one of the many restaurants.

Would also highly recommend seeing Cirque - most people will confirm its well worth the money.

I think DTD is worth a trip, especially if you want some huge Disney Retail Therapy. I like the Disney Christmas Shop too, and the kids liked the fairground carousel that is there too.

It is opposite the entrance to TL so I suppose you could go there after a day at the waterpark pretty easily, have you hired a car?

Free parking at DTD remember. And you can also see free ents in the evening on pleasure island.

You can catch a ferry to look at some of the resorts

Loadsa places to eat from fish and chips up to lobster

Virgin Megastore

In the evening think a very up-market Blackpool Golden mile with shops, eateries and nice peeeps having a great time.

We didnt find it until trip number 3

Yeah, we will have a car. I'm just SO excited, I can't bear the thought of waiting 5 more months! I think the excitement is also for the fact that our holiday symbolises my hubby's safe return from Iraq, so that must add to it!

Im sure sea world and busch gardens do some sort of special offer for members of the forces.

Hope it's not out of order for a Canadian to post but I saw your question and thought I could help. There are buses from the Disney resorts to DTD as well as a large, free parking area. If you have older children or teens, DisneyQuest is a must. And as another poster said, Cirque du Soleil is a wonderful show.

Walk through Ghiradelli's Chocolate shop for the free samples, stop at Raglan Road for a pint or check out the many shops. Take a boat ride to Saratoga Springs resort, Old Key West or the Port Orleans resort. It's definitely worth a visit.

And don't forget to take your Disney Tickets with you so you can go in Disney Quest - assuming that you have that type of ticket that is.

What's Disney Quest?

Its a huge building full of arcade games and other activities you pay one amount to get in and then everything is free, some theme park tickets include this in the price, what tickets have you got?

Disney Quest is a huge indoor area with so many things to do, Games, old and new. Its like an interactive theme park. Theres lots do do and see at DTD, its great for shopping.

Where in Germany do you live? We have lived all over due to parents in the army.

None yet!!
We live in Germany and the Travel Agent reckons he can get us a good price on Hoppers, but I am rather tempted to get them from a UK agent, it's just about deciding which ones. And as we're there over New year, I want everything to be written in English on the tickets to prove that they are still valid for the period of our trip that is in 2009!!

My mum and Dad lived there, Mum worked in the naafi. DH and I got married in the white church near the officers mess back in 2000.:) Small world
