Hi everyone.

How expensive is DTD ? i.e food and drink ? Trying to work out best value.

We are looking for Dec 2012 and dont drive so we are looking at getting close as possible to DTD with booking a chepish hotel, can someone recomend a budget hotel at DTD?

I take its closest to park gates ect? We want to be as close as possible so we can walk to the DTD from our hotel , are most Lake Vista hotels close enough to walk into DTD ?

Thanks.

Lake Buena Vista area hotels outside Disney are not really within walking distance, not saying you can't but not something i would do, especially if its a hot day.

Between DTD and LBV is Hotel Plaza Blvd with about 8 hotels on, we have stayed at:
The Hilton http://www1.hilton.com/en_US/hi/hotel/ORLDWHH-Hilton-Orlando-Lake-Buena-Vista-Florida/index.do
The Wyndham http://www.wyndham.com/hotels/MCOLB/main.wnt
and this August staying at the Holiday Inn, all on this road. http://www.holidayinn.com/hotels/us/en/lake-buena-vista/dislb/hoteldetail

Not always cheap but sometimes get a good deal.
Eating & drinking is expensive at DTD compared to places at LBV just outside Disney.

When we checked these out, what we found was that the DTD was a bit plusher than values at WDW and more expensive - we would pick somewhere like Pop Century over a DTD hotel any day - theming and also convenience if you have no car - Disney buses every 20 mins at least. Haven't stayed at a DTD hotel though so someone else might be able to give a different spin, but we've stayed at the values several times.

I would class the rooms we have stayed in as between moderate and Deluxe but at Disney value resort prices. We stayed the the Wyndham a couple of years back when it was the Regal Sun, cost £25/night, Hilton cost us £50/night but that was because it was Xmas. This year at HI its a freebie using American Airways airmiles.
Only stayed at ASMovies in the values, visited Pop last year, they are not for us whereas I would stay at any of the DTD hotels at the right price.
We always have a car but its a 2 min walk(Hilton & Wyndham) across to DTD bus depot if buses are required

Thanks for your replys, do you know the best sort of prices for those 3 hotels?
If within budget I would book one of those. We are 2 adults 3 children , 2 weeks late Nov/Early Dec 2012

I don't know which of the hotels cater for a family of 5, Unless they show up on a search, Monarch shows results for families of 5. Just did a search on there for Nov/Dec 2012 but none showing for DTD.

Most I know are a little bit further away £30 per night here http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_...Orlando_Lake_Buena_Vista-Orlando_Florida.html

£42/night here http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_..._Lake_Buena_Vista_Resort-Orlando_Florida.html

£46/nt http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_...ws-Cypress_Pointe_Resort-Orlando_Florida.html

£48 http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_...-Blue_Heron_Beach_Resort-Orlando_Florida.html

These prices are less 5% Quidco cashback http://www.quidco.com/monarch-hotels/

Thanks for that :thumbsup2
Would you say that the Blue Heron is the best one out of those ? Looks like it?

I would stay at any of them myself depends how much I wanted to spend, the dearer 2 get better reviews but if you are not having a car you need to check which would be best for you.

We stayed at the Blue Heron last year and it's a really nice place, we had a sunrise suite with stunning views, I would say walking distance is do-able but there is a very busy road with 6 lanes of traffic, you would have to cross this to get to DTD and it would be a worry with 3 kids.

We have also stayed at Cypress Pointe resort and this is also a very nice place but has the same problems with the road as the Blue Heron as they are on the same main road that runs through Lake Buena Vista.

If you take a look at google earth you will be able to go to street level for the area where the hotels are to see the roads better.

You could always take a taxi up to The Crossroads where there are lots of restaurants to eat and will be cheaper.;)
