Downtown Disney parking

I don't know if anyone has noticed, or if this has been asked on here yet and that I might just be very late on the subject, but... what happened to the DTD parking lot? I've searched a couple of sites, but all I'm getting is that it's closed. Okay... why? Why is the Simba lot being used now all of a sudden as the main DTD parking lot? Is it just regular maintenance, or is it actually going to be redeveloped? I mean, the entire lot is just gone from the Disneyland app, so it must be pretty significant right? So, what am I missing?

Just guessing, but it may be due to the construction of the pedestrian bridge and the pathway from Pixar Pals to DTD. If that's the case, the closure should be temporary.
