Downtown Disney Parking Ques?

The parking garage is open and working well. You might get stuck in traffic getting there if going on the weekends. It's a high tech garage and much better than searching for a spot like you did before.

You might get stuck in traffic getting there

1) The traffic flow near DTD is horrendous!
. . . the pattern is mixed up due to construction
. . . there are bus lanes and car lanes
. . . locals, let along vacationers, have a tough time figuring out the patterns
. . . MASSIVE delays and stop-and-go
2) Weekends or not.
3) When we go, we park at a resort and bus-it to DTD.
4) You would have to PAY ME to drive to and park at DTD. *

* As many of you know, I CAN be bribed.

We went on Friday, July 10 and had no problem driving or parking. We were there when it opened, or very shortly after, as we had to check out of our time share at 10am. I almost decided not to go because of the traffic issues I had read about but I am soo glad we went. I had no problem getting to the garage and locating a spot. We spent about 5 hours there and headed out around 3pm. It took a couple of light cycles getting completely out but nothing unmanageable. The worst traffic I ran into was actually because I decided to get gas at the Hess there and the pumps were all full with cars roaming/stalking pumps. In the end everything worked out just fine and we had an enjoyable last day of our trip (with enough time to head over to the outlet mall before heading to the airport).

This trip was the first one I took just me being the only adult with my two children. It was my first time renting a car so therefore my first time driving in the area. It was something I worried quite a bit about. I spent a lot of time looking at maps, studying streets and trying to get my bearings before we headed out. I won't say I was a complete nervous nelly but there was some inward concern. All of that being said, I had no stress, no issue at all maneuvering through Downtown Disney. Obviously it was not a peak time being there right at 10am but it was picking up by the time we left and I was still fine.

We go at least once a week in the late afternoon and don't have any problems. It isn't worth it for us to park at a resort and bus it over. Lots of new fun things to see and do and we don't find it all that bad. Of course it will be better once the construction is done but I think it is worth braving the traffic to get there.

Ok, thanks everybody! We had friends who down the beginning of June and they said it wasn't open yet, but I thought I had heard it was. We always go in a turn right and go right until you cannot go that way any more. Then we turn into the last parking lot and go all the way to the end and always found a spot, even last August. We go in the back of the toy store down at that end.

You won't be able to get down by the toy store any more with your car. The parking garage is on the West Side and there is a lot outside of it near Cirque where you can park if you don't want to use the garage.

I agree thats a good spot, although it's also where bus loads of people seem to get dropped off too.
