I am really really looking foward to going to DTD. I think it looks like so much fun and the shopping looks awesome. I want to help make my little one one of those character cups, some candy, and do a Mr Potato head. I also want time to check out all the other shops and things to do out there. How much time would you say to allow for that little trip. We are staying at POR so we will ride the boat out there.

Also..

What time do those shops out there normally close. Like the toy store and the World Of Disney store. I am SOOO looking foward to going out there.

and ONE other thing... :rotfl:

The magnet store that is out there.. is it Disney magnets or other kinds of magnets or both? How pricey are they?

Thanks for any info! :sunny:

Yes, it is on the West Side

We've never done the Westside! It takes us 4-5 hours each trip for the Marketplace. :) We do Mr. Potato Head or My Little Pony, spend a ton of time lost in World of Disney :D, and have a snack or lunch.

Oh gosh, I forgot to mention I spend a ridiculuous amount of time in the Christmas shop. It drives dha nd the kids nuts, but hey I love it! :)

Oh dear lord!! I forgot there was a Christmas shop out there! Oh why can't i win the lotto before we leave?? :rotfl2:

How will I ever decide what to buy.. potato heads, magnets, ornaments, disney souvies... woooooo.....what else... :rolleyes1

A new thing my kids did last week at DTD is at Goofy's Candy Co., you can request different toppings on either a big Oreo cookie, pretzel rods, apples, rice krispie treats or gingerbread cookies. My kids call it their Candy Creations and loved it! You fill out a sheet of paper requesting what you'd like, and the CM makes it in front of you and when it's done, they announce who you are and what you had created. There are lots of possible combos and they didn't limit how many you could choose. It could be dipped in milk chocolate, white chocolate, topped with sprinkles, crushed butterfingers or Reese's cups, M&Ms, nuts, drizzled with more chocolate or caramel... I can't remember it all. The kids were in heaven and they've decided when they're old enough to do the college program, that's the job they want! We did it twice, and unfortunately we left the camera behind both times.

We spend the first evening there on each trip. I would give myself at least 3 to 4 hours if you like to browse. We always eat at the Rain Forest Cafe. 210 days and counting for me. :hourglass Have fun. ::MinnieMo

I would say at least 4-5 hours as well. We always manage to get lost in the stores especially World of Disney. Heck, we can spend 2 hours alone in that store. Even on our last trip with a 22 month old in tow we still managed to spend probably close to 3-4 hours. :)

We always go on the first night for dinner and to look around and stretch our legs after travelling.

Then we go back on the night before we leave to get any of the bigger souvenirs that aren't park specific. That way I don't spend all my money on day one and I can think about what i really want. I like buying one really special thing every trip whether it be a water globe or a new picture.

That way my DH thinks that I am being responsible and I get what I want. :cool1:

I think DTD is one of my favourite places. You HAVE to get ice cream at Gheradellis (sp?)

We bought some magnets from the Magnet store, and they are awsome! Some magnets look like very realistic types of food. For example, we have a magnet that's a chinese take out box with realistic looking noodles, and chop sticks hanging out! I believe that magnet was around $5 to $8. Can't remember exactly.

Go in and take a look, you'd be surprised at all the variety of magnets they carry. :)

If you're a big Disney fan and shopper, then I'd allow for a long afternoon of shopping. Last trip we alloted one whole day for Downtown Disney! There's that much stuff to look at. Keep in mind that it may not be a relaxing break from the parks, meaning that you do as much walking at DD, as you do in the parks. (That's true for us anyways!)

Oh, I love DTD! But this will be our first time with the little one! Can someone please tell me about the Mr Potato Head, My Little Pony, character cups etc?

Sounds like fun! Thanks! :flower:
