I'm emailing from my room, via a high speed internet connection, at the Courtyard by Marriott in Downtown Disney. We paid just $29 per night and we picked up 2 rooms for Christmas week. At this rate I expected to be located on the lowest floor, overlooking the dumpster, but we are being treated very well, having requested a view that includes fireworks, we are on the 7th floor in a very comfortable King room, with daughters next door in a 2 double room. We are overloking the beautiful pools and hot tub, with Downtown Disney just a few blocks away. This is the third DD Hotel I've stayed in and I'd bet it's the best deal in Orlando. Very comfortable, great staff. Even went to the managers reception this evening and met several nice people also here for the week.
In the past I've stayed at the Hilton and the Royal Plaza, but if your plan is to spend time at the Parks, any of the DD Hotels will do. If they were at the same rate, I'd stay in a Disney Hotel, as these lack the little bits of Disney that you find in their hotels, but this is the next best thing with free Disney transportation and location. I'm just still amazed as to the rate we paid. Where did we find it? wdwinfo.com of course!
Anyone ever stay at any of the DD hotels, Grovesnor or Hilton?? I've noticed nightly rates for this time of year between $39 & $49 p/night and would like to watch for them next year for a quick cheap trip to see the X-Mas decorations. Any input?????
