Due to the ticket price increase this year we will be unable to stay at a Disney Resort. We were planning the same trip that we had a couple of years ago, but the price has increased $1200.00!! We are going with a family that has a small income and is saving for a year to try to get enough for their trip. Any suggestions/comments on the hotels in Downtown Disney would be appreciated.

I used hotwire for a hotel in downtown disney once. Paid like $50 a night. Or you can name your own price on priceline.com and get a good deal.

When we stayed at the DTD last year, we chose Best Western. They were (and still may be) the only hotel there that did not charge a daily parking fee. We got a rate of approximately $70/night. We never used the car - the bus system was fine. We took the 7:25 a.m. bus and arrived prior to rope drop. The staff was great. Rooms were large, clean and comfortable for the four of us. It was an easy walk to DTD, and we walked back at night with no problem.

We are staying in DTD also. If you google downtown disney hotels there will be a list of 7 hotels that are "official disney hotels" in the downtown disney area. We are paying 715.00 for Sunday- Friday at the DTD Best Western. Good luck!

Why don't you stay at Wyndham Bonnet Creek? Its an awesome resort and you can find a great deal on Ebay probably. There is a thread under Orlando Hotels on this board. Just a suggestion..

We have stayed at DTD hotels numerous times BUT we did have our own transportation. Be sure to check for parking fees and resort fees when you look at prices. They are really in the middle of everything and are very easy to find off of I-4. There are 3 hotels within walking distance to DTD but some are located a little too far (in my opinion). The closer hotels have lighted walkways. The DTD Hotels do have their own bus service to the parks BUT they are shared between hotels and drop you off at different locations than the normal disney hotels. For example to get to MK you get dropped off at the TTC not in front of MK so you still have to take the ferry/monorail over) and the other parks you get dropped off further away from the entrances) they do not run as often.
