Downtown Disney Dinning (An Alliterative Title)

I’m heading down to Disneyland solo in June for my 26th birthday and am considering a “fancy” dinner in one of the Downtown Disney restaurants or one of the restaurants in the Hotels. I’m looking for suggestions for you regulars. I’m not a picky eater at all and love all kinds of food. In August I did California Grill in WDW solo and had a blast (and an absolutely delicious meal!) Although I’d love Steakhouse 55 it appears that the sides come family style and that wouldn’t work for just me. Is Napa Rose a good idea or should I be looking at somewhere in Downtown Disney like Catal?

As a regular WDW it’s hard for me to have to wait to do all this planning when all I want to do is get started!

Thanks for all your help!

Napa Rose is good, Especially if you can do the Chef's Counter/Table! You don't have to share your sides at Steakhouse 55! :thumbsup2

BTW DLR is all about Alliterative phrases! They are everywhere! ;)

We loved California Grill on our last WDW trip. If your budget allows, go to Napa Rose. It's our favorite restaurant. DW and I really enjoyed sitting at the Chef's Table. I wrote a DIS blog on it last year. If you're interested in reading it and seeing good food pics, click here.

We loved Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen. The garlic cheese bread is scrumptious and the tableside Bananna's Foster presentation is great.I hear their chocolate bread pudding is tdf.

Chef's counter and Napa Rose would be my suggestion. But the restaurant would be fine solo in general. The plus of the chef's counter is you can talk to the chef!

I LOVE  bananas foster! I may have to do that for my birthday!

I like Naples also and UVA bar an catal

UVA Bar and Catal are the same (at least they use the same kitchen) Catal will provide a more elegant setting, as well as menu selections (which is also reflected in the price )! I like UVA... it is fun! But not quite "fancy" enough for the OP ;)

BUT the food is not the same at CATAL or Uva, i knew they were the same, but the menus are slightly different .. but thanks CD... Catal offers meals with fish and chicken and stuff like that

I know you knew that... I was posting that for the OP! ;)

Thanks for all the advice. I wasn't aware that Napa Rose had a Chef's counter. That sounds like a great option especially as a solo diner!

For my sister's wedding in August her "reception" was at Victoria & Albert's Chef's Table in WDW... What an amazing experience it would be fantastic to do something similar again and at no additional charge – what a deal!

I will probably be booking that for myself. Uva and the Jazz Kitchen also sounded very interesting but I think they’ll have to wait for another trip. It’s definitely something to keep in mind though.

Thanks for all the great advice and the fantastic reviews!!!!
