So I am planning a day at downtown disney for late septemeber. The guest are : myself, and my 7 year old son, I know we will go to Disney quest, but what else should we do for a day there?

Just relax! :cool1: :cool1: Enjoy a relaxing afternoon- take in some shopping, maybe a nice BIG Ghiradelli sundae by the water.....Check out the new Lego store.....have another sundae by the water.....walk around DTD twice to wear off the sundaes, have a nice Earl of Sandwich, buy some goodies to bring home....it is always fun to be there at night also when all the lights are on-

Oh, did I mention a GIANT sundae from Ghiradelli"s?

Most of all- relax! Have fun!

Have a wonderful not so fast paced day. We always start our Disney trips witht the first day at Downtown Disney. You have to eat at the Earl of Sandwich. Absolutely wonderful sandwiches. We went with a picky crew at Thanksgiving last year and everyone was able to find something they liked. I will have to try one of those sundaes though. Sounds yummy.

Just take your time and enjoy the day :umbrella:

My 8 year old son loves the Lego store playground area. He could stay there for hours building cars. He also enjoys Once Upon a Toy and the World of Disney stores.

That's the advice I'd give you too! Walk around and relax! Earl of Sandwich is great, best $5 sandwich I've ever had. Go into the shops and play around! Build a Mr. Potato Head in once upon a toy, smell all the bathing goodness in Basin, have a chocolate covered strawberry at Ghiradelli's, watch people pick a pearl ( or pick your own), and play in the new candy store!

I think there is lots to do in DTD. I love hanging out there and just window shopping and snacking.

I will be doing this a week from Friday (finally!). I'll post what I did for the afternoon, perhaps even "live" from PO R. Right now, I plan to have a late lunch at the Earl of Sandwich (love that place), do a bit of shopping at the Marketplace and head over to the West Side for some more shopping, if I shop long enough I'll have dinner at Wolfgang Puck Cafe, then take the boat back to PO R. I may stop off and visit Saratoga Springs, since I haven't seen it yet.

My DS8 is looking forward to visiting the Lego store and to building a rollercoaster at DisneyQuest's CyberSpace Mountain. My plan is to go a bit before the stores open to walk around and look at the Lego sculptures, then spend some time in the Lego store and the magician shop as the stores open at least an hour before DisneyQuest. When DQ opens we'll head over there to do the CyberSpace Mountain thing, Pirates virtual game and Aladdin virtual game. May head over to Ghiradeli's (sp?) to split an ice cream before meeting up with the rest our our party at Wilderness Lodge that afternoon.

Make sure you do the Aladin game before eating. That thing gives VERY bad motion sickness. i dont even sufer from mothion sickeness i still felt wrecked for the whole day afterwards.

We are goning to WDW in July. Where do you pick a pearl?? Can someone give me more info on this. I would like to check this out wit my daughter so Any info would be helpful.

thanks

My daughter and I did it in Japan. It was great. They make a big production out of the find. You choose an oyster and they open it right there in front of you. They measure and clean the pearl and give it to you. We had ours set in the store. I had earrings made out of mine. (I picked twice). My daughter had hers set in a sterling silver cage. It was a great thing for mother and daughter.

About how much did it cost for the necklace? And where can you do it at DTD?

Thanks!

We'll be there Monday!!!

Your seven year old son may enjoy eating at the Rain Forest Cafe. My kids love it. ::MickeyMo

Don't forget to look UP when you go in the stores at DTD. There are some neat things to see overhead!

If you plan to stop by Ghiradellis, sign up at their website for G-mail & you will get a coupon for a BOGO sundae (buy one, get one free). Be sure to check that you DO live within 50 miles of a store & don't sign up too soon...the coupons expire 30 days from when they are sent. http://www.ghirardelli.com/

Hi,

Last year I hired a boad from the marina ($30 for an hour approx) ands went up the lake and into the canal and I got as fare as one of the resorts ( Orleans I think) -worth it and you get a different perspective from the water-there are various boat sizes available.

Regards

Well then it sounds like the Earl of Sandwhich – anyone have a link where I can find out more about that place?

Lego Store and Dinsey Quest – are for sures too

You can do it at DTD- right by the water - I think by Ghiradelli's towards the seafood Rest- they sell frozen drinks by there also (oooh0 nice and strong! )

It looked pretty reasonably priced...

Where is the Earl of Sandwich located? Is it a sit down place or counter service? :earsgirl:

My daughter only got the Sterling Silver cage to put on a chain she already had. I want to say the cage ran about $12 -15. I had mine mounted on 14K gold posts for earrings which cost about $25. It was worth the memories.
