Downtown disney construction

We r going mid October, we usually like to relax several nites at downtown. How bad is the construction and parking. We r staying off property and wil be driving. Is it still a good idea to schedule a few nites downtown, or should we forget it this trip?

A garage is open for parking, and plenty of construction is complete. Lots of shops and restaurants open. Construction is hidden except for the view from above coming down from the garage and driving around.

You may not need several nights there but I think it's do-able and interesting if you like DTD in general. It's coming along!

Have a drink at Dockside Margaritas and enjoy live music if you want to relax.

The parking and construction is pretty bad, especially going at night or of a weekend, but once you're there, it's still a nice place to have a drink and walk around. Lots of the new areas are open and I don't think it feels too crowded once you're there. Just getting there is a pain in the butt!

Any closer parking for marketplace other than the garage. If not, we may pass this year. It's A hike from the garage to the Basin, Earl of Sandwich etc.

It's not that long of a walk. You can cross over the bridge across the lake instead of walking around. Or take the boat across.

If you wish to park closer though you'll have to park across the street and wait at the crosswalk as the overhead pedestrian bridges aren't open yet

Traffic can get backed up during high traffic hours. Weekends and around 4-6pm during weekdays. When it gets backed up its brutal. But when it's not backed up, it's smooth sailing. And once you're there, it's super easy to park (mainly the parking garage)
