Downtown Disney Christmas Day

How busy compared to other days that week?

Will anything be closed? - specifically shops and DQ (another post confirmed that the AMC theater will be open)

Traffic - will traffic be better or worse compared to other days that week? We would be taking WDW bus from either park or resort to DD.

It will be packed, busiest day of the year at Disney. Also it will still be under construction. All Of Disney is open 365 days a year. We went to play putt putt Christmas morning at Fantasia gardens, by the time we left the course around 11am the line to check in was almost to the parking lot. If you do go, getting there early is key. Traffic will be bad due to crowds and construction, arriving around 9:30am would be really good.

Just to clarify - I'm really interested to know if DD will be busier on the 25th than compared to say the 24th or 26th? We have been during this time before and I know everything will be packed - but is Christmas day a busier day comparatively to the other days that week? Is it a place locals would go on Christmas day increasing the number of people there - or does it tend to be a little lighter than other days that week because locals are spending the day opening presents and doing dinner with the family and those visiting WDW are at one of the parks?

Yes. It's busy. Very busy. Not with locals but with tourists, who feel the parks would be too crowded that day. Everywhere in Disney is busy Christmas Day. I've been..so I know. The last and only time I went over Christmas, we did AK Christmas Day (MK closed to capacity) and DTD in the evening. Never again.

Go first thing when they open and you should be fine.
