I haven't read too much about these 2 places....I was wondering what you guys thought about them. Should I visit? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Jeri

::MickeyMo I would definitely visit both of them. We love DTD! Especially Pleasure Island and Marketplace has great stores for shopping and souvenirs! DTD and Boardwalk also have some great restaurants. Since the Boardwalk is connected to Epcot, maybe you could swing over there for a little while. It's a neat place to check out. The West Side in DTD also has some neat places to shop along with Cirque du Soleil (very cool!) and DisneyQuest (also excellent). Just remember that DisneyQuest, Cirque, and PI all require separate admission, unless you added plus options to your ticket. I'd definitely make an effort to check out the two places, even if it's not for long. ::MinnieMo

The Board Walk area has a couple great restaurants -- notably, the Flying Fish, Spoodles, and ESPN. And the hotel itself, the Board Walk Inn, is a beaut. But I don't know that it's worth a special trip if you aren't staying there, or interested in the restaurants.

Downtown Disney, on the other hand, has fun shopping, though a lot of it is very tourist-y. (Virgin Records et al) There are also some terrific places to eat there: Wolfgang Puck, Fulton's, the Earl of Sandwich. If you want a break from the parks, it's a nice change of pace. But it can be a loooong walk from one end to the other.

Also: if it rains, you've got the AMC movie theaters as a diversion.

You know in all my life I've never been to Boardwalk but I can tell you tons about Downtown Disney! Myself going there almost every weekend. :rotfl: The shops are fantastic, pretty much the same merchandise you see in the parks and some you don't. Virgin Records is a must to go by if you are in need of a movie to keep a little one occupied in the hotel room or if you are in need of a cd or book to read in lines! XD AMC is my absolute favorite theatre of all time, if the movie you want to see isn't playing there then it's not playing anywhere! The place is really clean and they even have video games to play as you wait. The restaurants are incredible as well and even though they have quite a few fancy places my favorite is Earl of Sandwich! Not really sandwiches that kids will like, but I garantee you will! And last but not least my favorite shop, you have to kind of have a lot of money so needless to say I barely ever buy anything but it's the Planet Hollywood shop just a few short steps from AMC. They incredible memorabelia that you can by...I remember seeing a cloak that Dan Radcliffe wore in the Harry Potter movies for like a thousand dollars! :earseek: But they also have posters and games a stuff like that.

My DH and I do the Boardwalk usually the first day we are in the WORLD, get off the plane and head to the boardwalk for lunch...nothin better than ESPN's Chicken Nachos....lol.
If you are there for a whole week, make it a point to eat at one of the restaurants there...(early dinner or lunch of course..lol)

Ok, stupid question from me  Where exactly do I find the Boardwalk from Epcot? We just got back from 9 days and I can't honestly say I saw any signs that said Boardwalk. We did do DTD though and really liked it. LOVED the Rainforest Cafe there. Disney Quest wasn't that great for us, not enough to do for the little kids. (toddlers)

You can walk to it from the World Showcase entrance/exit :goodvibes Or, you can take the water taxi. It's great fun and the dining is great!

I won't have my car - so to get to AMC - I get off the bus on West side or MP or PI????

The AMC movies are located on the West Side, near Cirque de Soleil, Virgin Records and Bongos Cuban Cafe.
