I don't know if this is just my complete lack of computer knowledge, or if anyone else is having this problem too.

My computer crashed last week. ACK!! Luckily we had JUST bought a laptop 3 days before. Dh had already copied all our files from the old computer to the new computer before it crashed. So i have all my files. but for some reason the downloaded fonts didn't transfer. :confused3 no big deal, just download them again.

Except it's not working!!! I have no idea what's wrong!! I'm using mickeyavenue.com and trying to download the Waltograph Font. It downloads just fine, but the FAQ says i need to copy the file to the windows/font folder. Well i do that, and for some reason nothing happens. I've even tried unzip/extract the files and saving them to the font folder. Still no luck.

Is there something else you need to do for Vista, or am i just a complete moron??

THANK YOU!!! I'm so glad it's not just me!

I am not sure what you are doing but this is how I do it.

First I extract the font to a folder on my computer. (not my font folder)

Then I click the windows icon in the bottom left corner of my desktop and go to "control panel"

Then after everything loads in that wondow (it takes about 5 to 10 seconds), you should see the font folder.

I double click on the font folder. Then from there I click on "File" in the top left corner and choose "Install new font".

Then in the bottom left menu, you may need to choose the folder you saved it to. When you have chosen the folder you have them saved to, you should get a list of the fonts in that folder that will pop up in the top menu under "list of fonts". Choose which fonts you want to install and click "install".

Some programs require that you close them and re-open them before the new fonts will show but mine does not do this.

I hope this helps!

Here's how I do it:

Download the file.. it usually saves to my desktop.
Double click on the new folder
Unzip/extract the file

Goto computer>C drive>Windows>Fonts

Open that folder.

now, drag the font files from the desktop folder to the Fonts folder.

In vista it will go dim and ask you for permission to do it (the administrative thing)

Then open up your program, and your font will be there.

if your program is already open, I have found that shutting it down and reopening it is the only way to get the new font to appear.

Good luck!

*I do go through and delete all of those font folders off of my desktop at a later point*
