What's the trick to get the comforter to stay even in the cover?

Every morning I try to shake the comforter back to the top of the duvet cover with little success. I've tried standing on the bed but that doesn't work so you should have seen DD and I the other day. We were each hold one corner and hung it over the railing in our loft. My DH was in our family room below and couldn't figure out why we were shaking the comforter/duvet cover over his head. That seemed to work for a day or two but again last night when I went to pull the comforter over me, all I got was the duvet cover. The down comforter had sunk down towards out feet.

Any suggestions?!

I use safety pins to pin the corners to the cover (from the inside).

My problem with ours does not sound as extreme as yours - it moves maybe 2 inches or so, but never more than that. I just flip it every couple of days so that what was at the foot of the bed is at the head of the bed and nice and fluffy. Our comforter is very fluffy so that may be why we don't have much of a problem. Hope you can get it solved!

I've always thought my duvet was too big. I've thought about having it made smaller, but I never have.

Here's what we do. The duvet just lays on top of the comforter. You can't tell at all when the bed is made.

What I had to do is buy the large "patches" of velcro. I stuck a piece on each corner on the duvet and the comforter so that this is all inside the duvet...seems to help a lot, but not 100%

All of our bedding is from the company store, so maybe its just their stuff. But our duvet cover has ties on the inside that tie it to the comforter, and the comforters have places for those ties.
