Down By The Boardwalk, Out By The Mouse. 3/11 Jen's New PTR Pg. 69

Of course, I could not just pick one sound!!!

I love the sound of Jiminy Cricket narrating (Sp?) Wishes.
The sound of the monorail - "Por favor mantengase alejado de las puertas!"

I also like the sounds of my girls giggling or screaming on BTMRR - that's a new one as of last trip!

WISHES!! Oh I love the soundtrack to Wishes!! That is another great sound! Isn't it amazing how one sound can trigger a flood of emotion and memories!!!! YAY for your girls riding and LOVING BTMRR!!!

Sound... this is a good question. I love the answer about the"whoosh" from Illuminations. that is a great sound. I get chills with the start of the "welcome song" in MK, those few little notes put a smile on my face. This song and dance number just get my day started right. Is that a sound or a song?

You've all picked such great ones.

Love Rope Drop at MK! Something about it just screams Disney to me and you know you're almost there! I never get tired of it!!!!

No way could I pick one sound at Disney World!

Among my favorites would have to be the fountains and music at Epcot, water running at any of many waterfalls and fountains throughout the parks, the music in Impressions de France, Animal Kingdom background music, the first sounds of SpectroMagic when you can't see it but you hear it coming, the music that plays at Fantasmic when the big white boat rounds the bend and all of the characters proudly come out in celebration of good over evil....

Those are just a few that come to mind. I love the singers/dancers on Main Street singing 'right down the middle of Main Street, USA' and the clippety clop of the horse as it pulls the trolley. I love Wishes and Illuminations music. I love the music to Beauty and the Beast and Festival of the Lion King. I love the clatter of plates in a restaurant where I am eating with my family and someone else is doing all the cooking and cleaning up. I love the sound of the guy's voice on the Magical Express movie. I love the sounds of children splashing around in the kiddie pool at Pop. I love hearing a crowd countdown to open a park. I love the sound of first-timers (and old-timers) clapping at the end of Soarin'. I love hearing Bella say 'Meenie' when she sees Minnie.

I could go on, but I won't. I love so many, many sounds in Disney World, and when I am not in Disney World, I love the sounds of the CD's I bring home and play in my car on the way home from school. :)

Oh, I like the favorite sound question! Can I just say the whole monorail spiel? LOL. There are certain parts though that I just love...like the mention of Seven Seas Lagoon, Bay Lake, etc. I don't know why, but those names just say DISNEY WORLD to me. :goodvibes Also the monorail "ding ding", you know, like before they open the doors and stuff? Oh yeah, and the part when you get to the Polynesian. Yeah, so that's my answer. Definitely the monorail.

But I also agree with the beginning of the MK welcome show song. :goodvibes

ETA: Oh, I thought of one more! The very very beginning of the Soarin song too! That long note...there's something about that that gives me chills and gets me pumped for the awesome ride. Here, I'll even provide the actual audio. hehe

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jdaYDt3ywXw

Last one, I promise...since I'm talking about Soarin I also like the "Soarin to tower...we are ready for takeoff" or whatever they say. Ahhh I love that ride!

Those are all great sounds!! Makes me so want to be in my happy place!!!!

Thanks for the great link!! Loved checking it out!

My favorite sound is easy--it's the "ding-dong" of the monorail just before the doors close to take off!

Oh the Monorail, how I wish I was riding on it now!!!!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

I, too, love Robin Hood. When I was a kid, I would watch it over and over again. My favorite song was The Phony King of England, and I sure could belt it out!

Love both of your favorite sounds! The train and the clip clopping of the horses at POR are both great!

My favorite sound? Well, I thought it would be hard, but then it suddenly dawned on me...

The opening bars of the Main Street Electrical Parade. It makes me all tingly and excited!

I haven't seen MSEP yet only heard it and you are right it definitely gives you goosebumps! If it is anything like Spectro I'm going to be awestruck for sure!!!

Still trying to catch up after our trip!

Congrats on double digits! You're right, with all the holiday stuff it will be here before you know it!!!

Love the Epcot update! My must do's are Soarin and a slushy or 2 ;)

My favorite disney sound, definitely the sound of train horn and boat horns!! That's one of the reasons I love staying in the MK area!!! You can hear all of that!

Hey Jen and LL! Love the post, just read through the past few pages I had missed! My favorite sound at Epcot is hearing the music when you enter the park. I LOVE the gate music!!! :goodvibes

OH, JEN!!!! You loved the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland. ;)

Favorite sound is a pretty easy one for me, I think. Nothing quite says "you're at Disney World" as hearing the train whistle on the Walt Disney World Railroad. Now, if we were including music though, the choice would be much tougher.

Oh goodness, reading all these "favorite sounds" has given me chills! LOVE IT!

Let's see, hmmmmm....:scratchin

I think it has to be the beginning bars of Spectromagic. I love MSEP too, but I'm more familiar with Spectro, so that sound just brings a HUGE smile to my face.

I'm also pretty fond of that first "Wishes" as the two single fireworks shoot over the castle like shooting stars, it always makes me tear up!

My favorite sound for sure is the whistle of the Liberty Belle in Liberty Square. Always takes me right back to my happy childhood memories at DLR! :thumbsup2

I know a sound that I will miss. When Abby was 2 and even when she was 4 (although she knew she was saying it wrong) she would say Cinde-ba-lella instead of Cinderella. She won't do it anymore. I don't know when it stopped. But it makes me sad to know that she won't smile and point and scream Cine-ba-lella's Castle. And Brady doesn't say it that way at all. I don't know why but that makes me so sad!

That is one great Halloween photo.

Favorite sound - perhaps the sound of the engines when landing at MCO? :goodvibes

I also really like any music played at Epcot. There is always music playing outside near Innoventions. No matter what they play, it just screams Disney to me. One November they played O Sanctissima over and over and over again for the Christmas season and it just gave me the "warm-fuzzies".

Disney sure knows how to do holidays don't they!! The characters in their costumes are so awesome!!!!

LOL!!! I can't say there is ANYTHING I love about flying, but the landing comes pretty close (very anxious flyer...VERY)

Music at EPCOT is wonderful and I could listen to it all the time, especially when you first walk in....OY...chills again!!!!!!

Me too!!

Checking into the resort and the CM says "Welcome Home.":goodvibes

The first opening bars of Wishes :)

Hope we didn't have to pick just one!!

Musts in Epcot....SE, TT, MS and WS...mainly France and part of Mexico ;)

Tracy

It's okay I love reading all your lists so the more sounds the merrier!!! It was hard for us to choose one!!

Love all of your sounds!! I was wondering who was going to post the "Welcome Home" that is so nice to hear!!!!!

France...oh I how I love thee!!!!

Sounds is a great thing at WDW! I love alll the background sounds you can find everywhere!! But the ones that stand out to me as special are these ones:

The first "Wishes!" during Wishes

on BTTM: "Hang on to your hats and glasses, 'cause this here's the wildest ride in the wilderness!"

And as someone said: the score for Soarin! :cloud9:

Wishes is just a great soundtrack!! SO mesmorizing!!!

LoL I love listening to the "old timer" on BTMRR he is too funny when you are in the queue!!!!!!!

Well Soarin is just fabulous!! I totally agree!!

Your attention please, the Walt Disney World Railroad is now boarding for a trip around the Magic Kingdom

That is my favorite sound

WOOT WOOT another railroad sound!! LOVE IT!!

Another vote for the train WOOT WOOT!!! Love the train whistle!!!!

I'm so with you Brook, everytime I read about someone's favorite sound it takes me to a favorite memory of Disney!! So wonderful!!!!

Wishes and Spectro to great evening shows with a lot of great sounds!!!

My favorite sound for sure is the whistle of the Liberty Belle in Liberty Square. Always takes me right back to my happy childhood memories at DLR! :thumbsup2

YAY, the steamboat! I road that for the first time last trip with Leslie and it was awesome! I didn't know about all the little stories it told!!!!!!

Awwww...that's too cute!!! I would love to hear her yell that!!!!!! Little ones are just adorable!

You are right MeMom too many great sounds to just choose one!!!! I love the one about your little girls though!! They are just so precious!!! I too have Disney music playing often at work and in the car!!! Just takes me right to my happy place!!!

Still trying to catch up after our trip!

Congrats on double digits! You're right, with all the holiday stuff it will be here before you know it!!!

My favorite disney sound, definitely the sound of train horn and boat horns!! That's one of the reasons I love staying in the MK area!!! You can hear all of that!

LOL Slushy or two!!!! OOOH I never thought of that, I could stay at Poly or BLT and hear the boats and trains...now that would be awesome!!! Another reason to stay there someday!!

Hey Jen and LL! Love the post, just read through the past few pages I had missed! My favorite sound at Epcot is hearing the music when you enter the park. I LOVE the gate music!!! :goodvibes

OH, JEN!!!! You loved the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland. ;)

YAY WOOT WOOT!! Oh I knew I would!!!!!!Me and the original HM, sounds like a recipe for success if you ask me!! Thank you for taking me! I so can't wait to hear all about it, I was thinking of you guys!!!!!

Gate Music at EPCOT rocks!!!

Random Countdown #5

Well the Magic Kingdom update is currently in the works and I’m in the process of “tweaking” it, so I figured while you were waiting we’d do another random countdown. WOOT WOOT!!

So today’s countdown is brought to you by the number…

1088730141_spHHm-L.png

That’s right we are 74 lovely days away from Disney. In between we have Thanksgiving and the Christmas holiday season so something tells me Disney will be here before we know it. I’m so looking forward to spending time with Leslie. I can’t believe it’s been a whole year, which is a long time to not see your best friend. So I’m definitely looking forward to as I call it “Leslie” time.

So which Disney duo will be chosen today? Well, throughout the many Leslie and Jen talks we have had, we have found out that Leslie and I have a WHOLE lot of things in common with one another. Some of the things are so uncanny I swear that the theme from the Twilight Zone starts to play in my head. So in honor of us being best friends and the weird like “twin” quality we posses….this duo came to mind…

1088731437_VPkDS-XL.jpg

Susan and Sharon, the mischievous and matchmaking twins from the Disney classic The Parent Trap. What a great movie! Oh and the song, Let’s Get Together!! Now I will have that song stuck in my head all day and I won’t mind a bit!!! Let’s Get Together, definitely a theme that Leslie and I have at least once year! I’m thinking this afternoon I’m randomly going to choose one of the versions (yes I own both LOL) and watch one while drinking cocoa LOL!!!!

I also thought it appropriate to choose this duo because of answer given to this fun question. What is your favorite Disney smell? That’s right I said SMELL? Leslie and I both came up with the exact same answer. That’s right the EXACT same answer!

1088730186_DXGwc-L.jpg

Oh the wonderful orange smell that invades your senses as you fly over California’s orange groves while on Soarin’. I associate that entire ride with that smell, it just gets me!! I know I’m in a happy place when the wind is in my hair and the intoxicating smell of sweet oranges has overcome my senses. I wish Disney would bottle that smell and sell it so my bathrooms could have that glorious citrus scent all year round!!!!! I do believe that Leslie would agree!

So now it’s your turn! What is your favorite Disney smell?

I don't think I ever answered the favorite sound question... which would easily be the music entering FW at Epcot!! No doubt about it!! I'm smiling just thinking about it!

And I think I'd have to agree with you that the Soarin' oranges are my favorite Disney smell too! I enjoy the pine smell, but nothing beats the oranges! :thumbsup2

Love the Parent Trap! Actually, I love all of the Haley Mills movies!

Favorite smell? Oh, it would have to be the oranges on Soarin'! Followed closely by the lobby of Animal Kingdom Lodge.

Hmmm, favorite smell...that's a tough one. I do have to agree with the oranges AND pine trees from Soarin (funny how both my favorite sound and smell come from that ride!).

This is going to sound really weird but my Vera Bradley hipster has some sort of Disney smell still. I swear, I'm not even kidding. It must be our room or something.:rotfl::rolleyes1

These will be the fastest 74 days (well until the last 4 or so!)
I also love the Parent Trap. I've seen the newer one about 50 times, so that's the one that I think of first.

Favorite smell? Hmm,while I Love the oranges on Soarin', I also love the smell inside the Main Street Confectionary, or the Bakery. Any sweets, I'm not fussy!
I think POTC has a very distinct smell that always shouts "You're at WDW and going to ride POTC". I like that smell too.

Woot for 74 days! I agree, the oranges on Soarin' are classic Disney. I must also say, I love the smell of the Beach Club lobby. Just smells clean and classic. Oh, while I'm thinking about it, I love the perfume in Norway so that is another scent that instantly transports me. As does the smell of fresh popped popcorn on Main Street. Hmmm... what else. I'm so enjoying your updates and questions!! :)

I'm still not convinced that there are orange and pine smells on Soarin'. I've never smelled them because every time I'm there I get a sinus infection and can smell almost nothing on my Epcot days! :sad2:

I think I have to agree with Jackie and say that my favorite Disney smell is the lobby of Animal Kingdom Lodge. :cloud9:

update update yay!!

Let's see....favorite sound would be music from Spaceship earth, the part where you're going around and see the earth in the middle of the room, always loved that

Favorite smell..I wouldn't say "favorite" but the water has a distinctive smell to it. Blake and I always refer to it as the florida water smell and it always hits us as soon as we get off the airplane in MCO, and especially when we're standing by the big giant dancing fountain in Epcot..love it!:thumbsup2
