Thanks to the all of your advice, we finally dove in and got an accepted offer for 150 SSR points ( 242 currently available) , and will purchase 100 Riviera now, while we look to add points later. This seems t be the best route for us, and we are deeply grateful to DIS and all of you here who continue to share your knowledge an experience!
Hopefully Disney waves the ROFR and we'll be in!

Is there a reason you decided on 150 SSR resale and 100 Riviera direct instead of one of the other resorts direct?

We really wanted to own at the Riviera. But didn't want to go overboard. I assume we'll be buying smaller point contracts in the next few years at a few resorts with the same year. And we didn't buy any other direct because the price per point was SO MUCH HIGHER than any of the resale sites.

We are planning on doing the same thing. Looking at 160-200 point SSR contracts and preparing to make an offer and then planning a 100 point Riviera purchase next time we go to the world. We were originally loving the idea of BLT but the more we look at Riviera, the more we like it. By the time we go we will have found out how well the gondolas work out and how good the in house restaurants are. If those things are all great as expected, the location is fantastic and the resale restrictions, while a gamble, will likely make add on points that much cheaper for us down the road if Riviera lives up to our expectations.
