Has anyone tried the dolphin encounter in nassau on your own. Just wondering about the quality of the experience. I just booked it for 12 of us and had to pre pay. I just want to make sure that it is a good experience. We will be taking my 6 yr old dd, a 4 yr old neice and a 3 yr old nephew. Please let me know if this is a good program. Thank you so much!!!!

Sorry to say our family of 5 didn't think it was worth the money. It started with over an hour waiting to walk to the ferry. Then an hour ferry ride there. You listen to a good speech about dolphins. Then off to the floating dock with about 25 other people and they take you in groups of about 10 into the floating platform to pet, kiss, shake hands, feel his teeth, and hug for a picture. We spent no more than 15 minutes with the dolphins and shared that time with about 4 other people. Perhaps if you book it yourself directly, it would be cheaper and you could go at your own time.
Then you wait about 30 minutes to look at your pictures and your done with the dolphin and have about 2-3 hours to spend on the island. For the money I thought, Discovery Cove was better.
Good luck with what you decide.

I've done both the Encounter and the Swim, and enjoyed both. I booked them on my own, so I was on my schedule, and it was cheaper. It's easy to get a taxi to the boat to Blue Lagoon. You have a 30-40 ride there, the talk, and then the dolphins. In the Encounter, you stand in water up to your waist & the dolphins interact & dance with you & of course, you kiss them! The only negative in the Encounter that day was a mom who was overbearing & demanding....but we ignored her.

In the Swim, you actually get into the water with the dolphins & do the interactions, with the grand finale of two dolphins pushing you thru the water--wonderful! Of course, it's more expensive.

I really enjoyed both. It was easy to book on our own, and yes , it does take some time to get there & back, but I also enjoyed the boat ride. The video I have of my daughter & I doing the swim is priceless!

May I ask what you need to do to book on your own?

Thanks.
