We are new to DVC & will be taking 2 other couples who are very good friends with us to WDW in Jan. (One couple's first trip!!) We reserved a 2BR sav view at AKV for all of us & one couple has agreed to sleep on the sofa bed b/c this is going to be very economical on the other couples b/c we are using our points! However, after reading another thread about 8 women in a 2bdrm villa, several responders said they wouldn't stay 6 in a 2 bdrm-that we will be squeezed! (esp w/ luggage!) What are your thoughts? Anyone stay in a 2bdrm yet? It will be a lockoff (I think that is all that is availabel at AKV Jambo) Does anyone know if that means the pullout will be a queen or double? I got it so we could all be together at night just relaxing & see the animals from our balcony in the morning or at night after a full day at the parks! I know the units are very new, but any "first hand experience" yet?
thanks for any ideas/suggestions/experience!
Debbie

We have done 6 without a problem (not at AKV). If you are really concerned you could spend more points and get three studios but I honestly think you should be fine.

No first hand experience, but I since you have Savannah View, that means that you will have a unit that can accomodate up to 9 people, not 8. In addition to the sofa bed in the living room, there will also be a pull-out chair and a third bathroom off the living room.

You may be alright with this set-up, since the one couple has already agreed to sleep in the living room. (It'd be different if you had to duke it out once you got there!).

With 6 adults and 2 real beds as well as 3 pull out beds, I think you will be fine. Tell them all to pack light and plan to do a load of laundry each day. We did that with 12 in a GV once, and it worked out great. We ended up doing MORE than 1 load of laundry a day, but it was still super easy, and the nice thing at AKV is that the couple in the living room will have their own private bath!

I think that you will be fine. One question, though: Do the two bedroom units in Jambo have that extra bath or is that just in Kidani?

There is no extra bathroom off the kitchen in the Jambo House 1BR and 2BR villas. The 1BR and 2BRs in the new building (Kidani Village) will have the additional bathroom but that building will not be open until some time in 2009.

So to the OP: I agree that you can make this work, but just be aware that the couple sleeping on the queen size pullout in the living room will have to share a bathroom with one of the other couples.

Here is a floor plan for a typical 2BR lockoff in Jambo House:

Thanks everyone. I did know that there would not be the 3rd bathroom in Jambo (bummer!!) Just as an idea, do you all think I could get a studio next to or near the 2 bdrm I reserved either by points or cash? Then everyone would have their own bed & bath...I guess I am waffling. However, it may be very hard to get a studio now anyway...so maybe my choice is really already made for me!! well again, thanks everyone for your ideas & opinions! Deb

I think you are right about your choices being limited at this point. I have travelled with groups alot and most of the time, it's not the space, it's the people!:rotfl:
You know your friends and the best thing you can do is mentally prepare them for the togetherness. If they have issues, offer them other options, which may be more costly but more comfortable. You'll be amazed at how adjustable people can be when offered the right incentive. ;)
Dont worry about it and dont stress. There are families living in smaller quarters on a daily basis and they still manage to love each other, and they aint at WDW:wizard:

Have a great trip and be sure to take some time as individuals, and you will have a great time:wizard:

You should be fine with 6. Your post mentions someone having said that with six your "squeezed (esp w/luggage)." The issue there is having enough drawer and closet space for all, including places to store luggage. There is drawer space in the living room and also a closet and you should be OK with just 6. However, depending on size of suitcases, it may be difficult to store them all in closets.

Ask me in December and I'll have the personal experience. I have one two bedroom booked for my DH's parents, his sister/husband and their two kids.
I'm sure they'll be fine. I have another 2 bedroom booked for DH and me, DH's brother/wife and DH's sister/husband. I decided that DH and I get the studio section of the two bedroom so that we have our own bath and little refrigerator (we're at BWV.) It's our points, our choice. His siblings will share the master bedroom/kitchen/living room space. It was easy to decide who gets the sleeper sofa in the living room- the brother and wife who booked a flight to be there for only 3 of the 5 night family trip. For 3 nights, they can sleep in the living room.

I have always stayed in a 1BR with six people, 2 adults and four children and it was tight..........very very tight.

However, a 2BR is huge and it has plenty of room for everything. Remember this is a trip not a house, so pack light like you normally do and everything else will fall into place.

Are you staying in the room the whole time?? or just using it to sleep and maybe eat?

I think you will be fine, we are having a 2br with 7 people. 2 adults and five kids (16,10,8, and twins).

Good luck and take a deep breath. :goodvibes :goodvibes

Edited because Lisa S beat me to it on the "no 3rd bathroom" thing.

I think you'll be fine, though, with 6 in a 2BR. Plenty of room for the "people". The luggage would be my only concern.
