doubting DVC purchase

Tell me, how many cruises can you go on with Wyndam?
I'm actually not sure. Wyndham has some kind of a cruise connection (as do many other timeshares), but I've never been interested enough to look into it.

We also have a cruise option through RCI...but again, cruises are so much cheaper paying cash I'd never bother.

I wasn't trying to be snarky, btw, just was honestly wondering.

Sorry, our family loves DVC and for many reasons. so I defend it.

anyway, glad your a member!

IDK where people are getting this idea that its hard to use RCI. It has not been a problem to us. nor has traveling to WDW, or using DCL.
It would be interesting to hear which RCI exchanges you've actually done and how many DVC points they cost you. Then we could have a better idea of the value.

I think it is possible to get good value through RCI with DVC; I just think it's probably a lot less expensive using a different timeshare.

Same for the cruises -- when, what, how many points?

No, its really not a fairy tale.

If its going to cost you lets just say $1000/yr for vacation

$1,000 x 45 years= 45,000. dvc is only going to cost you around $18,000 if you finance. yea its alot cheaper.

A couple of comments. Buying any Time Share favors the developer, not the owner. Unless you really are committed to vacationing every year for the term of your contract or until you unload it, Time Shares may not be a good fit. We have attempted RCI trades and the locations that interested us never came through. I suppose that if we just settled for anywhere we could find something, but we didn't spend all of this money just to settle.

We were nervous too when we purchased in June 2010. However, when we used points for Christmas week, we were ecstatic with our purchase. We would have never paid cash for that stay.
