Doubletree or Homewood Suites

For those of you who have stayed at either of these hotels...

We are staying for 2 nights before going to Disney, it is just my husband and I. We are diamond members for Hilton so both places for us are free breakfast and free parking.

We are more so debating the location of both of them to Universal Studios as well as the niceness of the hotel. We would be booking a standard room in either of them. So price is about the same as well. What are the pro/cons of each, would your recommend or avoid either of these hotels?

Have only stayed Doubletree at Downtown Disney. Last time last month, renovation of suites great! I-4 or back road Universal not far but there is one closer.

Homewood - stayed at one on International not one by Universal but still very close in April. Great stay, food excellent. Great location. Staff and service good. Liked the quieter location.

We have stayed at both. Both times we decided to get to Disney a day early so we only spent one night.

We really enjoyed Doubletree. Rooms were nice, location was great, staff was very friendly. We would stay there again.

Homewood was not as good. We did not like the location (too far from Disney). The traffic around the hotel was HORRIBLE and we were there during slow times. It took us forever to get dinner that night. The room was nice but I swear the walls were made of paper. You could hear EVERYTHING and it kept us awake most of the night. We would not stay there again.

In case you weren't aware, there are many Homewood Suites in Orlando and three that would be logical for the parks. Lake Buena Vista by Disney, International Blvd in between them and Universal by Universal. They seem to be very different in neighborhoods and style so that is something to consider.

There are also several DoubleTree's through the park corridor, again one is by Universal, one at Disney and some in between. But I do believe the one at Downtown Disney is the only one that is an all-suites hotel.
