Doubletree in DTD

We're most likely going on a cruise in mid-August and flying into Orlando. We really want to do 2-3 days in Disney but money is tight for members in our group. We're considering staying at Doubletree in DTD on Hilton Rewards, which would save us a ton. But I'm worried with the new FP+, we'd screw ourselves. Can off-set guests now book 30 days in advance? If so, is that enough time to get FP+ for most rides? I'm guessing the meet & greet FP+ with Elsa and Anna would be gone by then. We could might be able to do one night in a value if it meant meeting A&E if we decided it was a priority (and probably Mine Train too) and then two nights at DT.

Has anyone stayed at this hotel while doing Disney? If so, what are your thoughts? We'd probably have a rental car as we prefer driving over buses. But then we would have to pay to park at the parks, correct? I'd love any suggestions or thoughts!

Go for it. I've stayed there several times. Their bus service is very good and we did not need to drive to the parks. You can walk to DTD which is a huge plus is no bus and no car to park. They do have an evening bus to DTD. The suites are large. Staff is great. Pool area is very nice.

Have not stayed since FP+ but offsite guests can book 30 days out. I just booked for three weeks from now during Memorial Day week, going specifically to ride Mine Train and was able to get FP+ for it and everything else I wanted.

Doubletree has just been totally renovated and it looks really nice. We always enjoyed our stays there.

I have a question regarding this hotel. If I'm going on february, how far in advance do you recommend booking? (do you think october would be good?:scratchin). Also, is is safe to walk to DTD at night?

Thank you!:wave2:

You should be fine booking then. I would suggest you sign up for emails from mousesavers because that is one of their preferred hotels and they often have special deals for followers. Book something that you can cancel in case a deal comes available. Some deals only come from their email or their monthly newsletter that comes via email.

You can walk safely to DTD from there, it is technically on Disney property. It is the farthest hotel from DTD but it's an easy walk on a sidewalk on a road that has plenty of lighting and traffic at night so very safe.

Thank you so much :cool1:. I'll sign up for mousavers!

Thanks everyone! I think we might go ahead and book this hotel. We can get suite for under $120 and standard rooms with queen beds for $88. Plus free breakfast since we'll be traveling as Hilton Gold members. Not crazy about having to pay to park (although not too bad divide by four adults), but we might have an annual pass holder in our group so that'll at least take of parking at Disney. I'm excited to be close to DTD - we stayed at Saratoga last time and loved our late nights there.
