Doubletree Hotel on City Block Drive

I am going to Disneyland on November 13th -- 9 MORE DAYS!!!!!

A friend of mine convinced me to try Priceline, and I "won" a room at the Doubletree for $60/night, which is not such a bad deal. But, I won't have a car and will have to rely on their shuttle service.

Has anyone ever stayed there? How is the shuttle service? Is it reliable? And, while I'm asking, how is the City Block -- nice? I'll probably spend the afternoon of the 13th there.

I can't answer about the hotel or shuttle service, other than to say the place looks nice enough from the outside. The Block is crawling with teenagers, but it is a fun place. Not a whole lot in the way of really useful shops, if you ask me, but there is some great food (the Market Broiler is very good), an AMC 30 theatre, Virgin Megastore, Borders books, Hilo Hattie hawaiian wear, Dave & Busters, even a bowling alley. There's plenty of fun to be had. They call it "shoppertainment" - isn't that awful?!

My cousin stayed there last June w/her family, and she really enjoyed it. The shuttle was pretty nice, too.

Besides Hilo Hattie's, the Block also has a Krispy Kremes donut shop, Johnny Rockets, and the only Ron Jon's surf shop on the Left Coast. It's an interesting outdoor mall, although as one person said, it is crawling with teens at times.

One other thing about the location, UCI Med Center nearby is the county's only level 1 trauma center, so you might get a bit of noise from ambulances and helicopters. I'm just guessing on that - perhaps you can report back later.

The shuttle was very reliable. The hotel was fine, delicious cookies upon check in. I remember room service being decent and priced less than other hotels. It is a good two miles away from DLR, but since the bus only services that hotel, it is a quick trip.

Block at Orange is a outdoor shopping mall plus. My son is a huge dave and busters fan, so we usually spend some time in there.

I also got the Doubletree for our March 2006 trip for $60 per night from Priceline. I was so relieved to see that they had a shuttle to Disneyland. I was wondering how often the buses ran and how late and I'm assuming that there is a section in the park where we will get dropped off/picked up? Has anyone ever eaten at their breakfast buffet?

I should be at the hotel by 4:00 pm, and since I think it would be too late to go to the parks, my choices would be to go to Downtown Disney or the mall. I guess it will depend on how much energy I have after flying from the East Coast.

I've been to Disneyland twice last year and got the Doubletree from Priceline also. I liked it alot. The rooms were redone last year and the breakfast buffet was fine for about $12. I was glad that there was wireless internet in the lobby and restaurant. Every morning I turned in my laptop to the front desk and they stored in with the luggage until I got back from the parks.
Every evening I updated my trip report in the lobby and emailed it to myself. They also have a computer room with computers, internet and printers. I then printed out my daily itinerary from that room. It was free too!
