I have read that the busses aren't so great, but we need to use them as we go in shifts: early riser commandos vs. late risers. How early should we be out front to wait for the bus if we want to arrive around opening? Does the front desk have a schedule?

Thanks for all help; we arrive tomorrow.

if you mean the double tree gust suites at downtown disney
i found that it was always busy
we stayed there in may 2003
the hotel was great and everything was great except teh buses were sooo crowded and it stops at all the resorts on the street the 7
so we started usng our car instead with the kids it was easier

we stayed at the double tree club in Downtown disney. loved the hotel but the buses were awful, IMHO.

we took one to mgm one morning and were waiting forever. and we were told that was the first one of the day, so it wasn't like we just missed it. we ended up cabbing it to most places.

we were only there for a weekend though, so our time was much more limited, so we chose not to wait.

other than that LOVED the hotel!

is that the building with all he crazy colors right before the park ?

It is a good idea to find out about the Disney transportation, if any, the hotel offers. Some hotels require that you sign up for specific bus times, others leave you stranded if the last bus of the night out of the park is full, even if they don't leave you stranded you might be waiting alone in the dark for 45 minutes for the bus to come back and make one final sweep before calling it quits for the night.

Yes the Doubletree Club is the one with the garish color paint scheme, on Rte 535 outside Disney, about a half block north of the Hotel Plaza Blvd. Disney entrance.

I stayed there on my very first WDW visit in spring 1975, it was called the World Inn then.

We stayed at the DoubleTree Guest Suites this past May. I thought the buses were great but I guess it depends on what time of year you are going. The DoubleTree is in the middle of the pick-up pack. Hilton, Holiday Inn and Hotel Royal Plaza are first then the others then you're off to the parks. I enjoyed having someone else do the driving. It gave me a few moments to figure out our plan of attack for the parks. The buses do run on a schedule. Just ask at the hotel or the bus drivers when they usually pick-up. Knowing this information we never waited more than 10 minutes for a bus. We planned our departure from the parks to arrive at the bus a few minutes before it left. Hope this helps.

Hi! Just got back; thanks for all the tips! We found that the buses did not follow the schedules that some drivers gave, and some drivers could not even answer when the bus would be back! If we were not going for the first thing in the morning, we found it easier to go to the marketplace and take a Disney bus to one of the hotels and walk to the park. The only park that did not work for was AK, but we waited for almost an hour to get the Doubletree bus back!
