Doubletree at Entrance to Universal - Anyone stay there recently?

we are going to Orlando in July for a Harry Potter conference at RPR.

Do I need a car or is transportation from the Doubletree easy enough to get to RPR? Is it in walking distance..is there a path? Also, do you know how often the shuttles run from the hotel?

Double Tree was a great Hotel. Stayed there last October. The walk is about 10 to 15 minutes to the turnstiles depending how fast you walk. Come out of the front doors, walk through the parking lot to the intersection. Cross over the street and the sidewalk takes you right to the Universal Parking garage walkway and joins it right near Bubba Gumps. I don't remember seeing a shuttle but I would imagine it would be faster to walk than wait for a bus.

I'll be at that same conference. There are many of us staying off site. You can walk from the doubletree or take the shuttle. I believe it runs in the am and pm. Also a cab is about 5 dollars. I'm staying at the Holiday inn express just down the road. I know there are others staying at the doubletree and days inn etc. I'm sure once you make some friends you'll have someone to catch a ride with as an option too.

ETA: on Leaky's facebook page a group just started for people staying at the doubletree

You can always walk from the DoubleTree to PBH or Hard Rock hotel and walk from those resorts or take their boats.

However, if it's busy (like park closing), they *can* check to see if you're a hotel guest and they get first priority.

If you're worried about walking, that's what I'd do.

When we stayed, we walked the whole way...taking shortcut thru HRH parking lot. About 15 min walk.... Fastest way for us.
