Has anyone ever stayed here before? We are thinking of a trip in the fall with 2 adults and 1 child(2 years old). Originally we were thinking of staying in a value disney resort but then thought "what do we do when our daughter goes to sleep at 8 pm in this little room"? I saw that these were suites and although they are not disney resorts they are on disney property(downtown disney area I think).

Are they any good? Do you get to do the early morning or late nights like with disney resorts? Any info or other suggestions would be great. Thanks

We just stayed at Double Tree in November and while they are spacious and clean, the food wasn't that great and it in no way had the Disney feel.

Don't get me wrong - it wasn't bad but we had a split stay with onsite then offsite and there was just no comparison.

We have young kids too so the what to do after they are asleep question is high on our list of priorities as well.

You might consider renting points and staying at one of the DVC resorts . . . just a thought.

Good luck with your decision!

We have 2 kids and have stayed there in the past. We liked it and would stay there again. We couldn't afford that type of room on property. I really liked have a fridge and microwave. No you don't get all the perks, like extra magic hours. I think you can send packages back to your room (some one correct me if I'm wrong). They do have bus service. We like to get a king size bed and put the kids on the pull out couch. Don't forget free cookies at check in.

We have stayed on site (All Star Movies, Contemporary, AKL) and really liked it....it is a little more magical...however...we also enjoy having a little more space and have stayed a few places off site like Double Tree, Nick Family Suites, Cypress Point. Accomadations like that are just more afforadable off site.

If you choose a standard room, you could take turns putting the little one to bed. You could stay in the park (by yourself) and do a few grown up rides or shop. Or, you could swim (or sit by the pool and read) or shop at the hotel gift shop while DH puts her to bed. Hopefully you could slip back into the room with out waking her. Just an idea.

Maybe she'll fall asleep in her stroller and you can stay out past 8.

You just have to decide what you can afford, and what is most important to you. Either way you go, you'll have fun. let us know what you decide.

what did you think about cypress point?
Cypress Pointe Resort

As they have the studio nice for me and just the wife for under 90 a night. your feedback is appreciated... we plan on going to disney 4 days going to universal on and then maybe try to rent a car to the beach the other.

Thanks

I'm assuming you're asking me about Cypress Point....

We enjoyed it very much. We have stayed there 3 times. It was clean and a good value for the space. We got the 2 bedroom unit. It was nice to have a kitchen for cheap and fast breakfast. Location is close to Downtown Disney, a Winn Dixie grocery store and a Walgreens. DH loved the big screen tv in the living room. There is a newer phase called the Grand Villas. They have elevators, the older buildings do not...had to drag luggage up 2 or 3 flights of stairs. I understand they have been updating the older buildings (carpet, paint, furniture) so they are like new. The pool area was nice. The kids loved the slides and water spraying valcano.

Its not a super fancy place, but it meets our needs and fits our budget. This is DH prefered place to stay. I would stay there again with out hesitation.

hope that helps!

Does anyone know if the Double Tree hotel has the official Disney transportation or if its just done through the hotel?

When I stayed there, all of the Downtown Disney hotel shared buses. They are not the Disney buses...and they do not let you off at the same place at the parks as the Disney buses. You have to walk just a little further.

The Doubletree is OK if you accept that it is not a Disney resort. Think of it as your basic 3-diamond hotel with BIG rooms. The bedroom and bath are nothing special (2 double beds) but there is also a large living room with sleeper couch. About 600 sq ft total, much larger than any non-suite at a Disney resort. I don't recall if there is an actual door between the bedroom and living room, it may be just a flimsy sliding partition. (I was in a room by myself so it didn't matter to me.)
