First time poster! Howdy all! :wave2:

My boyfriend and I are taking our kids (ages 10,13,13,15) to Disney World in July (yes, I know it will be hot!). We were thinking of staying at the Double Tree Suites in DTD since there are 6 of us and there aren't many Disney resorts with suites. Can I have your opinion on the Double Tree? Where can we find the best rate? So far, the cheapest I've found was mousesaver.com at $139/night.

Many thanks!

Welcome to the DIS. I have moved your post to the Orlando hotels board. You will more answers there.

We are going to the Double Tree Suites the first week in May. The rate you got on Mousesavers is about the best there is out there at the moment. Sign up for the Mousesavers newsletter. Sometimes a slightly better rate comes through. Have a look at the TripAdvisor website for reviews. I have questioned my choice of hotels on and off for several months now but I think I have made the correct choice. It won't be a Disney Hotel but in reality we're not in the rooms that much and like you I have a large family. I'll let you know how the hotel was when I get back if you like.

Hello there,

I am anxious to hear about your stay, we are staying there in August since we are a family of 5 (myself, DH and 3DS) so the extra space, kitchenette, dining table, 2 TVs AND the location were all pluses that we couldn't pass up! Have a great trip to both of you!

OBTW we are driving down from NB, yuck but it's the only we can afford to go!

We stayed there last year. It was roomy and convenient since there was so much space plus the kitchenette with the microwave was a godsend. The hotel in itself was pretty run down and I hope that they have done a little upgrading since. There is a restaurant that also does room service. The food is average, the breakfast less than average. The bus service was adequate and we averaged about a 15 min wait ( we went during low season). The busses stop at about 6 or seven hotels along the way and I think that we were somewhere in the middle of the route. It's a hike to DTD, we tried the first night. A nice walk but a long one especially with kids. Don't do it after a long day at the parks. We waited a pretty long time for bus service from DTD back to the hotel however, I think we waited more than half an hour. Did not try the pool since it was winter time.
On the whole, it suited our needs and the price was reasonable compared to the other resorts.

we stayed here in may 2003 great rate of 89 a night with mousesavers
we had a great time
we could walk to DTD
the room was large, clean and we had no issues
the pool was great
the used the bar there and had no issues
we also had a coupon for a free pizza and drinks one night and it was great
the bus service was slow
after one night of it we started using our car
we had driven down from MA in one day
much easier we are the type who will open and close the park it made it easier getting back to the room at night
