Double the Anniversaries, Double the Fun! Jan 2013 PTR | TR HAS STARTED! 2/13

I wanted to get in an update before we leave for our little weekend getaway tomorrow. No cell phone service, no TV, no internet... It is going to be AMAZING. :cloud9:

We're heading up to Mount Rainier and it's one of my favorite weekend getaways that we do!

I'm planning on reading lots of Harry Potter (I'm a dork, reading through books 3-7 for the first time!), enjoying some board games, relaxing by the fire, doing a few hikes, and just enjoying a weekend away from everything in peace.

I'll be sure to post a few photos when we get back, I promise. ;)

So, on the ADR front, we needed another restaurant for Saturday, but we wanted to do something we hadn't done in awhile/wasn't a repeat of anything else we were already doing.

So that being said, after much research, we ended up adding... The Garden Grill!

I always forget about this restaurant and kind of feel bad because we went there on our honeymoon.

Is the food mind-blowingly amazing? No, but I do remember enjoying it, especially the bread and maple butter.. But the big plus for me on this one is the rotating restaurant, allowing us to see lots of Living with the Land, and of course, seeing some of our favorite characters. :)

I'm a total sucker for restaurants that oversee/are near attractions (I'm lookin' at you, San Angel Inn), and add in Farmer Mickey, Pluto, and Chip & Dale plus some pretty tasty food, and I'm a happy lady!

Some of you guys might remember from my last PTR, but being married to an Excel nerd, and now being one myself with my own job, we love spreadsheets when it comes to planning our ADRs and organizing our trip.

Matt actually made this year's spreadsheet, and we've made good use of it (since we can both access it in Google Docs)... So that being said, here is what our current ADRs look like for each day:

nerd1.jpg

I cut out the rest of the spreadsheet because it has some of our plans and I want to save that for later posts! ;)

Anyway, we now have 12 ADRs, 1 non-ADR but TS dinner (B&C), and then we're planning on the dessert party. If it's in blue, it means we're paying OOP, and red means we haven't booked it yet (because we can't)...

OH YEAH! I totally forgot to mention that we are planning on doing the Dessert Party this year! Believe it or not, I STILL haven't seen Wishes yet. :scared:

I KNOW, trust me I know, but this is the perfect opportunity to see it for the first time... Now let's hope we can get reservations for the Dessert Party in a month or two.

Other than THAT, the other thing I wanted to show off were the rest of the headbands I made!

I kind of went crazy and made all of the Fab 5, and Winnie the Pooh. I'd say for my first attempt, these came our pretty cute!

There are a few I need to re-do (mainly Winnie the Pooh and Pluto, only because the ribbon I used for the headband party wasn't the right kind and looks like poop).

I've actually now had a few people wanting to buy them from me, which is a great compliment. I'm open to that at some point, but I figure I'd like to first make sure I'm happy with the quality of these before I try selling them to anyone.

Anyway, here they are!

I'm thinking about seeing how some of these bows would also look if I just glued them to barrettes instead of headbands, as I would totally rock that look, too.

I have a few other characters in mind, like Buzz Lightyear, Woody, Stitch (who I made but I'm not sold on the colors unfortunately), Wall-E, and many others. I mean, the options are kind of endless.

I've had a total blast making them, outside of me burning the crap out of my finger on the glue gun last night.

Matt has his own nerd hobby which includes painting miniature figuress for his Warhammer 40K table top wargame (I don't really know much about it except I think painting the miniatures looks neat, and Matt enjoys it so that makes me happy)... Anyway, it's just nice because we both sit at our table and work on our crafts together, while watching The Office or Parks and Rec on DVD. It's really relaxing/fun and helps us de-stress after work. :goodvibes

Anyway, I'm looking forward to making more hair bows/headbands and potentially making some for people who are interested. :)

Outside of that, not much else to report on my front! We're getting closer to being able to make reservations for stuff for Disneyland.

It's SO weird how you can't book ADRs there more than 60 days in advance... and they don't post their park hours outside of the next 2 months... Disneyland is WAY different to plan for than Disney World, I'll tell you that much! :rotfl:

I'm hoping to have some great pictures/a solid recap of our weekend on Sunday! :)

Have a fantastic weekend!! And definitely be sure to take a lot of pics!! Are you taking the pups?
Wow, your really doing a great job withy the headbands...that bow in a barrette would totally rock!! I

Good for you both for having a de-stressing activity...we watch TV and that doesn't help...
I've never been to Garden Grill, can't wait to hear your review!

Way To go with the spreadsheet!! Now that's what I call organized!!!!

Have so much fun this weekend! It sounds so relaxing, as does your crafting.
I'm not gonna have time to make the girls their headbands this time, seeing as I'm nowhere near packed yet and we leave in the morning. Oops! My bad.

Anyway, you're awesome, duh.

Aww I can’t wait to see the update from the weekend We have our own little retreat as well (www.sunpeaksresort.com) which we visit in all seasons. Your hairbands are so cute! Well done! Aren’t Disney spreadsheets the best! I can’t till I have one going again! :wizard:

Love the head band bows! I think if you could do it on hair clips it would be awesome! The only headbands I ever wear are my Minnie Ears lol!

I know its weird not being able to book ADR's at DL more than 60 days in advance. But then you really don't NEED to! With so many visitors there being locals except for very few restaurants (Blue Bayou) you can make them the same day!

I hope you have a great weekend! I'm sure you'll come back with many a TR to catch up on, hahah. (That always happens to me if I don't log on for like, even ONE day. It's crazy.)

YAY GARDEN GRILL!!!! It's funny that I was on the same wavelength as yall for that one... so weird! But yay!!!

Your headbands are so cute! Which ones look like poop??? I don't see any poop. :rotfl:

I love the headbands! How do you make them? (I totally want to steal the idea...but I'm not that crafty.) Or you should sell them on Etsy. I would totally buy one!

I love the spreadsheet! We're planning on taking a cruise this Winter and I have the most intense spreadsheet going on. We also planned our entire wedding with Google Docs <3

Have a WONDERFUL time this weekend! Being disconnected will be AWESOME.

I think the barrettes would look great. I would totally rock that (I like that they're not super huge and very subtly cute).

Great ADRs! We made the call for Garden Grill for our trip, too. But I'll talk about that more in my PTR!:thumbsup2

Thanks! We had a wonderful weekend... and no, we left the pups at home, no dogs allowed up there!

Thank you for the compliment on the bows! I am looking forward to trying out the bows on barettes soon!

We are pretty organized when it comes to planning for our trip... though our planning goes out the door most trips. :rotfl:

Aww, there's always next time for the bows for the girls! :goodvibes Oh and hey, you're just IN DISNEY WORLD RIGHT NOW! You have no idea how jealous I am! I can't wait to hear all about it when you get back!

YAY! I'm about to post it, actually! That sounds like a lovely retreat for you guys! I wish we could go up to Mount Rainier in the winter, but it closes down in October because of the amount of snow they get up there! Disney spreadsheets definitely are the best, and get you VERY excited for your trip.. while staying organized! :thumbsup2

Haha, I don't wear a ton of headbands either, so I'm hoping the hair clips look cute! I still haven't had a chance to try making any, but I'm thinking about doing it tonight when I get home from work. :goodvibes

It definitely is weird not being able to book reservations, haha. We're planning on Blue Bayou so we'll be making the reservation for sure!

We had a great weekend! And yes, I have a LOT of catching up to do... including yours! It does get a weebit overwhelming when you realize how much you have to catch up on! Haha.

I was laughing when we chose that one because obviously you'd said that. Too funny! I'm very excited for it though!

Hahaha, well, Winnie the Pooh is a little wonky and I need to fix him, but otherwise they're looking pretty snazzy!

I'll let you know how to make them. It's actually super simple. I might sell them down the line though!

HAHA YES FOR SPREADSHEETS! Makes everything better. Excel spreadsheets are totally necessary for wedding planning! :rotfl:

It was much needed and we really enjoyed ourselves!

That's exactly my thought on the barettes! I'm going to give them a shot and I will most definitely post how they look once I've got a few completed.

Garden Grill is seriously awesome! I need to mosy on over to your PTR here soon. I've fallen behind on my TRs/PTRs with this whole being away thing! :rotfl:

Hi guys! I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend. We most definitely did, and I have to admit it's hard being back at my desk at work when a few days ago I was looking at this:

DSC_0283-1.jpg

Yes, if you couldn't tell, we had a wonderful weekend, secluded up at the Paradise Inn on Mt. Rainier. There is something amazingly wonderful about being completely disconnected from the world for a few days.

We spent a lot of time relaxing, reading, playing board games, and hiking! Our hikes were beautiful, and we even saw a black bear (which you'll see below, not a very good photo of him)... We also saw deer and a fox on our way home.

Oh yeah, and we were also celebrating our second wedding anniversary! Matt got me the best card ever, which I took a photo of (you'll see it below), and the inside says, "There is no one I would rather walk through life with than you."

Mickey and Minnie and a perfect quote... I'm a pretty lucky lady. :) He also surprised me with two new Pandora charms (such a sneakster!) that are perfect for my bracelet and a wonderful way to mark our two years being married!

I'll let some of the photos do the talking... We really enjoyed ourselves.

Oh, and here is a video I took during one of our hikes to the Nisqually Vista. It really was unbelievably beautiful!

Outside of our trip, things have been okay. I think if anything I need to just be in Disney World or Disneyland right now (though who doesn't?! haha).

I'm actually going to be heading out to Boston next Tuesday night to see my family, then flying from there to NYC for work.

I'm not particularly thrilled about being away from home for 9 days, but I'm sure I'll be okay. And I'm definitely looking forward to meeting my new niece, spending time with my sister, and then exploring NYC in my free time.

I've never been there, so it should definitely be interesting! My hotel is fairly close to Rockafeller Center, so I'm sure I'll want to go there, the Disney Store, and Nintendo World, among other places!

And obviously, I'll have to update you guys on how everything went with lots of photos from both Boston and New York! :goodvibes

I just know I'll miss Matt, the puppies, and my own bed. That and I don't really love flying by myself. It just seems kind of lonely, haha. I know, it sounds weird, but yeah. I'm sure I'll be happy as a clam once I'm back in Seattle and home with my lovies though!

Not too much more planning on the Disney World or Disneyland front. Just counting down the days until we can make reservations for Disneyland... I have a feeling that trip will be here before we know it though!

EDIT: Holy canoli! I'm in such a fog, I can't believe I missed this! Matt just pointed out to me that 4 months from today, we will be enjoying our first FULL day in the parks! Which means, less than 4 months and we'll be on our way to Disney World! Holy cow, this is so exciting! Time is flying by!

holy moly! that is super duper pretty!! I want to explore something mountainous one day.

WHEN CAN YOU BOOK WISHES DESSERT PARTIES?! We want to book one for our anniversary, and it's just about killing me.

OMG Dani, STUNNING!!!!!!!!!! *sigh* It sounds like a wonderful weekend! :lovestruc AND, good timing since you are leaving for 9 days. I can't wait to see pics and hear about that as well...hey, if you just keep traveling and posting pictures, I can live vicariously through you!! ;) We are at 46 days today, I think, from our trip!!! (I know, I should know exactly, but my phone is in the other room charging and I'm lazy) :p

Wowzas what a beautiful place! Might have to look into it for a little get away!!! :thumbsup2

Your (last) weekend looks like it was beautiful!

I'm really bummed that I can't find the picture with the bear in it. :(

Holy guacamole, those are some gorgeous pictures! So happy you had a great anniversary trip! I want to hear all about Boston/NY! Meeting that cutie will make the days pass faster.

Fabulous pictures! and awwww you two are so cute! :lovestruc

Sorry you have to be away, but I'm looking forward to the pictures! :goodvibes

Hey everyone! Sorry for being so quiet lately. Things have been crazy for us. :faint:

Basically before I left, big things happened at work, so Matt's job has went from one thing to basically now having WAY more responsibilities and he's taken over someone else's responsibilities. This is a good thing, but also VERY stressful for him as he's trying to catch up as quickly as possible.

On top of that, I've been dealing with some family stuff (even prior to me leaving for my trips), and that was a little dramatic at first.

So between the stress and drama of the work stuff, family stuff... needless to say, leaving Matt to fly to Boston/NYC by myself was NOT fun.

We both were just kind of in tears because we needed each other for support, and instead we're apart. :( I know it's only for 9 days, but it was hard.

That GOOD news is, things are better on the family part, and Matt presented a huge meeting yesterday that went so well, both our CEO and other exec approached Matt telling him how impressed they were with his work.

I am so so proud of him for stepping up and really doing so well, even through all of the stress and pressure. My husband is a rock star. :goodvibes

Anyway, I'm in Boston now, staying at my Mom's condo! I'll give you guys more of a scoop once I'm back in Seattle from our trips, and I'm trying to take photos when I remember to.

Kind of like a fun little mini-trip report, haha. I'm sure I'll take a lot more when I'm in NYC, hopefully!

I spent time with my Dad yesterday which was good, and tonight I'm meeting my niece Melina tonight :yay:, and can't wait to see my sister, brother, sister-in-law and Mom, as well!

Tomorrow my mom, sister and I are going to head up to Maine for the night, which I'm also very excited about. So yeah, expect a fun little trip report of this whole trip! :goodvibes

I'm trying to keep myself busy, so missing Matt and the pups won't be so bad and also time tends to go by faster.

Nice part is having Facetime on our iPhones/Macbooks, so I can see him and the doggies during the evening when we talk... Makes it a bit easier being away from them. :goodvibes

Anyway, promise I'll update soon again and respond to everyone! And yes, I owe you guys a photo of the bear we saw in Mt. Rainier (Marissa, I'm a dork and thank you for pointing it out, hahaha)!

Can't wait to update you guys again when I'm back, and I look forward to catching up on everyone's PTRs/TRs! :goodvibes

Oh my gosh! I didn't even realize that you'd left off the picture! I definitely thought that I was being dumb and overlooking it. HAHA! But that's awesome, thanks for sharing!

I hope you're having fun with your family! Hopefully the east coast is treating you well.
