Good question. We'll be taking our double stroller too and I'm not sure how its going to work. We have a Phil & Ted's Explorer and you can't fold the stroller down with the 2nd seat attached, so I'm not sure what to do (check the 2nd seat??)

Check with your airlines-

American Airlines will only gate check a fully collapsable stroller under 20lbs. They also have restrictions on checked strollers. Details are on the website

Delta requires that the stroller also be collapsable but IDK about a weight limit.

No matter what realize that they are still going in the cargo hold and some of the baggage handlers are not so "gentle" Fold them and secure them, I used an extra bungee to make sure it didn't come open. The baggage handler may not know how to fold them and could cause damage. Take of any extra accessories, trays and toys and leave them home or pack thim in your checked bags to prevent damage.
