We bought a Maclaren double stroller before our trip. It worked great and wasn't that much larger or bulkier then a single stroller. My husband hurt his wrist during our trip so there was one day where I did almost all the pushing. I think if we'd had two singles it could have really held us back that day. Also we had two rainy days and having a stroller with a nice rain cover kept the kids nice and dry. Not sure if you can find a well fitted rain cover if you're using cheap umbrellas. For the buses one of us wrangled the stroller while the other wore the baby and held our preschooler's hand. It worked great.
We also brought an ergo baby carrier for our 23 month old. It was great for waiting in lines and gave us the ability to park the stroller more often while we explored a small area of the parks. Plus she sometimes fell asleep in it and I could wear her during a show.

We did two umbrellas when we took our kids at 3 and 1. The Chicco Echo from Target is awesome - reclines great for naps, is sturdy, is pretty lightweight, and folds up easily. One of us would hold the kids while the other folded the strollers (if they were sleeping, if they were awake one would hold their hands). It worked out great because if we wanted to split up (one day my husband took the 3 year old to mini golf and DTD while the 1 year old and I did something else), we each had a stroller. Or, if we were just going somewhere quick (DTD for lunch) we could just bring one. My next trip in May we will have 4 kids - 1, 1, 2, and 4. I'm not looking forward to having to bring a double (also bringing an umbrella) because they are so awful on buses, but hopefully this will be the only trip we need it!

They sell clips for umbrella strollers that will clip two strollers together. We use them for my twins almost daily. Need the convenience of pushing one, clip the stroller together. Super crowded or narrow paths, unclip them and use as two strollers.

Mine are made by Munchkin. They are adjustable so they'll work on a variety of strollers.

Wow, this is awesome! I had no idea this even existed! I'm sorta sold on this idea. May I ask what brand/type of umbrella strollers you own?

Thanks everyone!

Those clips are just ok in a pinch....They tend to pop off or break after a few times...At least what we've encountered. There's nothing like actually having the stroller nice and sturdy, and then being able to fold it in 1/2 & clip it.

We bought something like this for our first trip. We took two Maclaren Volos and brought the clips for the few times one of us was alone with both kids. The Volos were so light and easy to fold up. We could each carry one over our shoulder and still hold a sleeping child.

My personal opinion is I didn't want to do disney with a double stroller, too big. We even waited until my youngest two were older before going. Our plan is a single umbrella and a boogie board attached so they can take turns standing and sitting but neither have to walk long distances. I bought the boogie board o Amazon, can't wait for it to arrive to try it out!

Also, we used the clips for the umbrellas when my twins were younger. Like PP said, they were in a pinch but aren't ideal. Two umbrellas clipped is SUPER wide and very difficult to steer, especially in large crowds. I was never a huge fan of those clips, but do agree they work in certain situations so I do still have a set.

Our boys were 3 and 1 on our last trip, and we used a Joovy Caboose stroller which is a sit and stand style. I got a great deal on a brand new one on eBay. The size was big enough that both boys could have a seat if wanted but also small enough that maneuverability wasn't an issue. It was quick to fold for the buses as well.

The convenience of the sit and stand was great too because if the three year old wanted to hop off real quick to look at something ( like most three year olds do) it didn't turn into a long process of getting him unbuckled and everything. We could just stop the stroller and he could just walk right off.

Our usual double stroller is a Bob and that was going to be way too big to get through crowds. We also thought about just adding the kick board attachment to our UppaBaby, but the Joovy was the best choice we could have made.

We found the clips for the umbrella strollers awful

Can't steer them well. Sounds like a good idea in theory but it's pretty aggravating

Best tip I learned here was always throw your rain cover over ur stroller if it's going to be parked for a while. Nothing worse then coming back to a soaked stroller seat.

Cheap $20 umbrellas from BRU bought 4+ years ago for my daughter. My husband only has one arm and we've had no issue with him maneuvering them clipped together, but our boys are the same size so it might balance better. The Munchkin clips we bought haven't broke or malfunctioned after a year of daily use. They're $10-15 so you can cheaply test them out before Disney and see if it works for you.

I've been 4 times this year with our 1 and 4yo and asked the same question a year ago.

Clips are crap. Two singles are fine but remember BOTH adults will always have hands full.

We rented a double city mini GT from kingdom back in Jan 2014. I've since bought my own. Fantastic stroller to let them both sleep. Sure, bulky to get in and out of buses but I suggest packing light - we have one very light bag that fits underneath - and keep rain gear at the bottom. We don't mind holding the stroller as that short ride's discomfort on the 2 parks we bus to is a minuscule price to pay for all day kiddo comfort. Maneuvering in the parks is easy and efficient. This stroller in particular can be steered with one hand easily. Some stores can be tight but not insurmountable and that's when I break off for mommy shopping anyway. Save yourself the stress just settle on a double knowing travel will be a little more work but much less painful when everyone is comfortable.

In other threads some folks vote for two singles, but I vote for the double- provided a few considerations:

Weight- a heavy stroller is a pain. Opt for light but sturdy. Giant single strollers are just as miserable as light double strollers.

Easy to fold huge plus. Also, one with high handles for a taller person, also good wheels for long days.

Where you are staying/what you are bringing- strollers and electric scooters are no big deal on the monorail. They are more hassle in cars and on buses. Also, it may matter what else you are bringing on plane- esp carry-on. (car seats? lots of other stuff?) those very heavy car seats plus stroller in airport are miserable.

A double stroller means one person can push two kids, but pushing a double stroller around WDW is no picnic either. The worst is gift shops and really busy spots like trying to leave MK during a parade. Even worse than MK gift shops is any off-WDW gift shop. All are supposed to be ADA compliant, but some are not. Try to make sure your double is no wider than a wheelchair. that's one key.

Oh, watch out for the trolley tracks on Main St!

One company make s sit'n stand, but they look heavy ad second child can't nap. a true double is better.

You still need a basket, a rain cover (that works for a double), shade cover, (for a one year old) recline (or comfy way to nap).

Oh, it pays to get in shape! Practice 30 min walks with the stroller before you go. Build up those muscles! You'll need them!!

We used two double strollers on our last couple of trips. We also have kids two years apart 1 & 3 on our last trip. I like not having to push are double stroller around the parks. Looking forward to a time when I wont need a stroller then I wont have to be parking strollers all day. But I do like having the storage and some where to place my cups :thumbsup2

We've done both...It really depends on the age of your kids. If there is a 6 year old and a 1 year old, I"d take 2 singles. My reasoning? The 6 year old may want to stay and the 1 year old may need a nap. If there isn't a huge gap, chances are you'll end up sticking together. Last fall we took a double for our 1 and 4 year olds and I was SO glad I did. I took them back to the hotel at night while DH stayed with our 2 older kids, there's NO way I could have pushed 2 singles by myself!

I vote for a double stroller. I wouldn't want to be emptying and folding two strollers when using Disney transportation. I used our Baby Jogger City Mini GT double in Disneyland twice and didn't find it difficult to navigate the parks and DL is much more narrow than WDW overall. I don't think fireworks or parades crowds should factor into the decision because with that many people it really doesn't matter if you have a single or a double, packed is packed.
